I don't have the guide, so I'm basing what I found out on well.. how I found them.
There's 7 of the random items throughout the whole Thief questline. I used a list off of Gamefaqs, but it was so vague and didn't give much insight about where to find it exactly. I'm going to elaborate a bit on where to find it. Queen Bee Statue - During the quest "Loud and Clear". When you're at the point where you're in the room with Aringoth, look around for an end table with the statue on it. It stands out pretty well. Honningbrew Decanter - During "Dampened Spirits" when you're upstairs in Sabjorn's quarters, look for a locked door inside his office and the item will be on a dresser next to a strongbox. East Empire Shipping Map - During "Scoundrel's Folly" you'll find that you can go upstairs in a couple places in the warehouse area (before going into the cave). At the top of one of them is the map openly displayed on a table. It's kind of hard to explain, but just take your time and explore the area. You can get A LOT of iron ingots and useful pots as well. Model Ship - During "Speaking with Silence" you'll end up in a room with two staircases; a wooden one and a stone one. To help a bit more, it's the room right before you go up to the Sanctum. If you've reached the caged walkway, you went too far. Take the wooden one up and be very cautious as the ship is on a pressure plate and will release the hanging jugs onto the flammable liquids on the floor. Not sure if it'll break/fling somewhere if you let the fire burn it. Dwemer Puzzle Cube - During "Hard Answers" quest. Okay, there's a map that shows the location somewhere on the web, but the best I can describe it is that it's on a table in plain view (literally, you have to be blind to miss it) in a corner between the door that leads into the cellar area and the door that leads to the balcony I believe. Bust of the Gray Fox - In the "The Pursuit" quest. It downstairs in the hidden area. It'll be on the same desk you obtain the plans from. Left Eye of Falmer. - In the final mission. Loot the main antagonist's body. All the above missions are in consecutive order and each item is found in the above order. One thing I read was that you can't turn in one of the larceny items if you finished that quest, but I was able to turn in the Bust of the Gray Fox while being on the final mission. I think it's if you finish the questline entirely that Delvin won't buy the item from you. As far as what the items do for you, I don't think they do anything other than give you something nice look at in Cistern bookshelf and give you some gold when turning them in. Hope it helps a bit.
