This is my first DW game since 3 (I believe, way back in the day). I stopped playing them because they simply were getting old...and they where the exact same game every year it seemed. So I just stopped playing the series.
However, I just recently got DW7. I mainly picked it up because I remembered how fun it used to be before I got burned out of the same ole same ole, and I was pleasantly surprised. The game is fun again to me. I guess I just needed a break from it. So if you where an old fan of the series but haven't played it in a while, I highly recommend giving it a shot. |

Not wondering if I should get DW7 per se, just wondering if I should get both the regular and XL versions.
This will sound weird and OCD-ish, but if I plan to get both, I'd rather get the regular version first, then XL. Are there any benefits to getting both? Obviously, more trophies. Anything else? |

Im a huge Koei slut and i have played and destroyed every game in their Warriors franchise, including all of the offshoots. I can safely say that if you liked the play style of DW3 and DW5, then DW7 is a good invesment for you. It plays very simliarily as far as the action goes.
Maps are a tad different though. Story mode is very much like the mousou modes you have come to know, but play can happen a lot quicker than maps from like DW3. Instead of 30-60 min per every battle, you will see maps take much less time, kind of like DW:Strikeforce. Their is also a mode called Conquest that plays very much like the Empire expansion packs that have come out in teh past with a few differences. The biggest change though is that matches can last less than a min at times, which is both great for trophy grinding, but sucks for getting lost in levels... I have been very happy with DW7 and i think it is one of the best of the series. Then again, Koei always hits it out of the park on teh odd numbered games, and completly blows it on the even ones, ha ha ha. I also have DW7XL and highly recommned that one too. I am actually enjoying it even more than DW7. Both have huge grinding trophies, so they are not for just getting easy plats. Not un-obtainable by any means, just a good time investment, which is good in many ways as it keeps you playing the game at least. I would suggest playing DW7 to play before DW7XL if you have any interest in both, as your save carries over as does any DLC purchased. Its all personal opinion though, so its hard to tell if anyone would like one game from teh next...

In terms of concept and controls, it's pretty much the same as the previous titles.
The gameplay is slightly different since we don't get to choose our own characters in story mode (which is a good thing coz it's more accurate). Really like the conqest mode even though it can be tedious and repititve when grinding for trophies

I can tell you the story will blow you away i own # 3,4,5,and the orochi series and I never really cared too much about musou because you chose your character but the fact that DW7 forced you to play as some specific characters makes the series More accurate And the Cutscenes and very dramatic moments are very gripping And emotional if your a fan of 3,5 You will love this! oh and i like conquest mode it's pretty cool and a nice change from free mode

I waited over a year before I could finally find a store that sold this where I am, cuz it was in VERY limited release and I was finally able to get one in a city about 100 miles where I live.
What really struck me was the clerk told me, the game had been discontinued and that any copy sold would be a collectors item, therefore I was like oh yes I will gladly get one now, because it was the last new copy they had and given the fact I've been a fan of this franchise for so long, yes I would easily pick it up if you can find it. |
