I couldn't stand Dragon Age: Origins for the above mentioned reasons but am interested in DA2 because I love RPGs.
Have Bioware fixed the lagging and time-wasting save/load issues yet? Overall, how glitchy is it compared to DA:O?

DA2 is much smoother and the loading times seem to be much shorter. I'm about 15 hours in and have experienced no problems with lag

Well that's good to hear. I got sick of DA:O very quickly, It pissed me off how it would auto save every time you went through a door or into the next screen, that would be fine normally but it stopped to save that game rather than continuing on like most games do.

There is a short lag I mean very short just when it starts the autosave iirc. At least autosave can be turned off, but I do need it
![]() The lag or delay in this case that bugs me most is every time you move to another area there is a load screen or I guess 30 secs or could be more. It would not be so bad if it did need to do this several times on one quest. And sometimes you start a quest and secs later you are again waiting for another load for more data. However you do get use to it after about the 100th please wait while I access something that should have already been loaded. And during these loads I am starting to notice a lag as well.

I've had two freezes
![]() Once after opening a chest, and the other during a conversation. I find the load times nicer compared to DA:O, however (so far).

I seem to have bad luck with freezing when it comes to RPGs. The same happened with New Vegas. I'd read thousands of complaints of freezing, glitches, etc. None of them would happen to me. I'd think everybody else was just extremely unlucky.
Then, I'd get closer to endgame. Freezes started up every freaking half hour. With New Vegas it was explained that it was remembering too many things at once like doors I opened and items I accidentally knocked off desks. Without a 'physics engine' per sei, DA2 doesn't really have that excuse, but, sure enough, once I hit the third act I freeze nearly every 30 minutes. Which is just so much fun.

I have frozen twice but only after playing for long periods of time.
Autosaving in convo or during party selection will not allow you to select an option during autosave.
