I'm with you, ultimately it's just the gaming industry being more greedy, on top of the already hard economic times. Companies lose a lot of money off people buying games used, because in the end they only get the money from the person who bought it new. So, they introduced VIP passes to rack in the dough from people who buy games used.
I hope you're able to get it sorted out without having to buy a VIP pass!

I feel your pain mate. I got a brand new game from some bloke on Craigslist and although it was fully sealed and the game had obviously never been opened the code just did not work. I had to translate the code through their site since I live in Canada and it was only a 8-digit code, but they told me it had already been used
![]() Such bull, had to buy a code for a new game ![]() Cheers, Brrnout |

if u open at the top or bottom , you can then slide case out and just slide it back in and seal with a lil' glue. Thats what i reckon happened to you, someone bought it, platted it , sealed it up then sold it on to a mug! ![]() Unless your buying from a reputable store, id watch what you buy. These days its just as cheap to buy games new anyways, maybe not when first releaesd, but most games will drop by atleast 50% of their price a month or 2 after release. Well they do here in Uk anyways. The reason game companies charge this, is because they dont make any money when someone buys their game secondhand. Servers cost money to run, so they have to get the money somehow. I usually only buy games new for this reason, as i was caught out b4 on these online passes, when i bought a game secondhand. Its usually about 3-4 quid cheaper to get secondhand games, id rather pay that 3-4 quid extra and get a brand new game! Ive even gone in stores and the same game is considerably cheaper when you buy it new! Take Brink for example, when it came out its was 40-45 quid, if you bought it new and sold it back to them within a week they probably give you £30 for it and sell it as seconhand for £35-£38, now because this game is shit, a few weeks later it drops in price to £15 for a new copy, but the store still has secondhand copies in store for £35+, because they paid out £30 for it!! Its even possible to buy new games online, then open them and sell them to stores as secondhand to make money on! I have done this b4, about 2 weeks after infamous 2 came out, i saw it on zavvi for £27 new, i also saw on gamestation that they would buy it for £30 secondhand, so i ordered 3 copies of it, kept one for myself and traded in the other 2 to game & gamestation, because if you trade in insrtead of selling for cash you get more money, for £54 cash , i got £72 in credit at the store!!! So? If I buy a F458, when I sell it, Ferrari should earn some money AGAIN, because they don't earn any money when someone buy a used car, right??? That's not right mate, and I know it, you know it, they know it.

When someone buys a secondhand game, no money goes to game companies, but the person still uses their servers to play their game online, which costs money to run!!! ![]() I think the only one who doesn't "KNOW IT" is you mate.... Although you cant actually see the internet, it isnt actually something that floats about in the atmosphere for free!!! You need servers and people to run the servers, which again isn't made up of fairies and magic dust!!! Yes some games are overpriced, some games are utter shite, but this is the case with most things, don't go pre-ordering every new full price game that comes out, then winge when the £40-£50 you spent was wasted!! You might as well wait a month like i do any the likelyhood is that it will drop to under £20 which isnt bad even if the game is not that great!! Save your pre=orders for games like Uncharted 3 which you know will be amazing and well worth the £40-£50 asking price. Do some research before you buy the games!! Well that's my daily rant out the way...lets do some gaming. Last edited by BaSHee26; 08-21-2011 at 09:57 PM. |
