Mace's "Super Easy" Boss Guide

Here are the easiest strategies to kill all of the bosses in the game that I know about, with these strategies you can kill them all with literally no skill required. I have included if you should or should not use the Thief's Ring so make sure you are if you are supposed too! Cheesy but if you need the help here it is.

If you have any other hints or tips for bosses suggest them and I may add them and your name to the guide, good luck guys and happy demon soul hunting!

- Items and Spells Mentioned/Suggested -

- 'One-Time Revival' Spell - A spell that brings you back to life just once, infinitely useful in many different situations. Gotten with the Hero Demon Soul (Old Hero) from Urbain.

- 'Light Weapon' Spell -A spell that enhances your weapon greatly, very powerful with the blueblood sword. Gotten with the Silver Demon Soul (Penetrator) from Freke.

- 'Poison Cloud' Spell - A spell that poisons your enemies good for slowly draining their hp. Gotten with the Wriggling Demon Soul (Leechmonger) from Freke.

- Purple Flame Shield - A great all around shield with 100% physical block and easily gained. Gotten from where the dragon nest after the red dragon is gone is 1-1.

- Magic Sword 'Makkato' - This sword drains your health, it is useful to get under 30%. Gotten in the pit you get kicked into if you are pure white in 4-2.

- Clever Rat's Ring - Raises you Damage to 150% when under 30% health. Stacks with Morion's Blade. Gotten in 3-1 where the huge arrow barrage trap is.

- Morion's Blade - Raises you Damage to 150% when under 30% health. Stacks with Clever Rat's Ring. Made from a +8 straight sword and a storm demons soul (storm king).

- Blueblood Sword - The only unique sword that allows you to put magic enchants on it, this makes the already very powerful fast small sword to be godlike and insane. Made from a broken sword and a pure demons soul (maiden astraea).

- Theif's Ring - *IMPORTANT* A ring that allows you to be unseen by your enemies. This is found where you meet the prince Otravia? well anyway it is on the platform where he is hiding in 1-1 you can roll off the stairs to pop right over the edge and land by him.

World 1 - Boletarian Palace

1-1 - Phalynx

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

Your first time you get to this boss he hits pretty hard, the best way to take him out is to throw all of those fire bombs at him that you collected during the level. Once a large portion of the mini-phalynxs are dead you can easily walk up and start wailing on him with anything you use. Magic also works wonders on this boss but the area of effect of the fire bombs is more practical. Remember to stay behind pillars let him come to you, if you charge out you are asking for 5 spears in the chest.

After your 1st time, this boss just gets easier although fire bombs become weaker. Now all you need is a magic enchanted weapon or some powerful spells and you should have at least one of these by now. Take out any of the strays from behind otherwise use the previous strategy but now you can slice or blast him apart with weapons and spells.

1-1 - Old King Doran

* Use Thief's Ring *

Although the 2nd boss on my list do not atempt him second, he is the hardest hitting boss to my knowledge. Do not get discouraged tho, you can easily cheese him at the end of your first play-through. All you need to do is equip your Thief's Ring and whichever ranged damage your prefer.

Now just run in and say hi to him then pluck him with whatever you use run out the door and turn left and hide in the building across the bridge. Then all you have to do is rinse and repeat, he will follow you for a brief moment but when he loses line of sight on you he will give up and go back allowing for you to get in another cheap shot.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

Shinochan's Alternative Method -

All you need to do is a melee weapon and whichever ranged damage your prefer. Now just run in and say hi to him then pluck him with a ranged attack. Run out the door, across the bridge, past the room, and head behind the second catapult. (Don't constantly sprint, otherwise he may lose you and head back.) He will be running after you till he passes the first catapult, then he will give up and begin to head back. (You are now completely safe to attack him with anything BEFORE he enters the previous room.) Sprint to his left flank and hit him repeatedly with melee attacks to push him away from the stairs and into the right corner. (The spear and halberd in 2hd with R1 attacks works very well.) Use your body to block his escape. Now use whatever weapon you prefer.

If he escapes, let him leave; one hit will kill you. Wait patiently behind the first catapult and he will automatically come running back to you. Now head back to safety behind the second catapult and repeat. If you are using a physical damage only weapon, consider using weapon buffs for additional damage. For example, Enchant Weapon, Light Weapon, Sticky white stuff, etc.

1-2 - Red Dragon

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

Here is the lamest boss fight in the game, well mini-boss fight i guess. The red dragon will come down and breath fire like in 1-1, then run to the first tower and clear the archers on top of it. Stand near the front of it in the middle and as its feet are touching the ground let loose a soul arrow or a real arrow to slowly kill him. Each time he passes you will only get one opportunity to hit him so this may take some time and a lot of arrows/mana.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

1-2 - Tower Knight

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

Another very simple boss to dispatch with ranged combat, first thing first when it starts immediately run up onto the walls to avoid being smashed, impaled, or shot. You are pretty much safe up here as long as you stay away from the edges, now go around and kill all of the archers.

After that is done all you have to do is go near the edge, and when he begins moving his shield to throw a spear at you fire an arrow or magic at his head or body (you can lock onto him). After you fire immediately roll backwards or duck behind a wall as to not get hit. Rise and repeat this until he dies, it may take a couple tries to get the timing down to where you hit him everytime.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

1-3 - Penetrator

* Use Thief's Ring *

The easiest way to dispatch this boss is to make sure you save your helper in this fight. Save him from the prison at the very end of 1-2 right before the tower knight boss, you will have to first get the key from one of the fat dudes in 1-3 tho. This is also how you free the witch that you need for some good spells so you should be doing this anyhow.

Now that you saved you buddy, equip your Thief's Ring and go fight the boss with whatever ranged combat you prefer. The boss will charge your partner and wail on him constantly since he is an aggresive crazy man, while they are duking it out pummel the Penetrator from behind (yes i know how this sounds) with arrows or magic. He should go down very fast and probably never even look at you. If he does happen to turn away just run, your partner with quickly take him back so you can assault him again.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

1-4 - Blue Dragon

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

Another dragon eh... Well this one has even more life than the last and is luckily slightly less annoying. First thing is first when you get to him make him unleash flames on one of the fatties by taunting him, then nail the dragon with arrows/spells until he is at half health then he will fly away. For safety I would use ranged to take out the other fatty but you can dispatch him however you do best.

Now for the second part of the fight, he will begin breathing flames in a left to right then right to left motion once you get close. Slightly after he begins left to right, shoot up the left path as fast as you can (preferably with second-chance to revive you if possible) when you get by him just use auto-lock on. Then shoot him with magic and/or arrows until he dies.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

1-4 - False King

* Use Thief's Ring *

The first step of this is to make sure you have the spell poison cloud equipped. Maybe the simplest of all the bosses to cheaply kill, equip the thief's ring and when you enter the room move to your right and duck behind the wall. After he walks near you then turns around, slowly walk up the stairs when you reach the top use poison cloud on him then slowly retreat to your safe spot. This will take a decent amount of time but risks no damage to you so it is very easily done, just rinse and repeat the process.

* Requires Poison Cloud spell.

- Ehou's Alternative Method -

Be sure NOT TO MOVE when you zone through the fog into the False King fight. If you have a Sticky Bow (range bonus) you can find the sweet spot (a little left of the boss's head, off in the distance) and pelt him w/ arrows. He won't react or engage you, so long as you brought enough arrows he'll die w/o ever moving.

World 2 - Stonefang Tunnel

2-1 - Armor Spider

* Use Thief's Ring *

Another ranged exclusive fight, atteptive this as melee would be difficult. In this guide we want "super easy" so instead we are going to hide in the back on the right behind some rocks with our Theif's Ring. Whenever he stops attacking usually only attacks once maybe twice pop out and hit him with an arrow or spell, then pull out a shield to block any webs he shoots at you. Rinse and repeat this and he will die an easy death without much trouble at all on your part. Remember to pull up your shield if you are at risk of dying his webs do not hit hard but they do hurt you.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage, although if you do not use a shield with 100% physical damage reduction you will take very slight damage from the blocked webs so be warned.

2-2 - Flamelurker

* Use Thief's Ring *

This is a boss that can trick you, so pulling out all your punches for damage can help take him down without a problem. This is most easily down with arrows but can also be done with magic or maybe even a long range spear thrust, when you enter get him to charge you and then run behind him. You should use the Thief's Ring but it is probably not necessary sometimes he will get distracted and get even more stuck into the bones if you use it.

There is a ribcage directly to your left that you can hide behind, he will get stuck on this while charging at you and you can shoot him all you want. You can actually get him stuck on either side of this so if he manages to get around it just switch sides and continue. He will do a hop to the left and right sometimes when he gets stuck this is when you should switch sides if he comes at you otherwise try to get him to stay in by moving right or left.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

2-3 - Dragon God

* Use Thief's Ring *

This is a very restrictive boss fight if it can even be considered a fight, it is more of an interactive movie. All you have to do is destroy the debris that is on the path while hiding behind pillars so that he cannot punch you. This is more easily done with spells so you do not have to leave your safety and arrows do not destroy the debris, although using a extra large weapon you can usually break the debis in one swing to get by faster. After a bit of doing this you will reach a spear gun and shoot him. Now you go down some stairs and repeat the exact same process as before except now he breathes fire, fortunately this doesn't change the strategy at all.

Finally you will arrive a the second spear gun in which you shoot him again and then he falls down with his head on the platform. Now run closer to his head and blast it with whatever spells/bows you have on you to kill it from a distance without any chance of being hurt by him.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health is ok here since there is no risk of taking damage, he kills you in one hit so it doesn't really matter although your damage doesn't matter either.

World 3 - Tower of Latria

3-1 - Fool's Idol

* Use Thief's Ring *

First of all, KILL THE SUMMONER! There is an old punk on the right pathway up top, you reach this by going up the spiral stairs on the right. He will say he is not going to interfere but after you kill the boss he brings it back to like the first time I did this fight I had to kill her twice. He is right next to the key that you use to free the mage you learn spells from.

To fight this boss I would suggest ranged combat again. Have your Thief's Ring on and after clearing out the worthless goons prepare for battle! This battle consists of lots of hiding, hide behind the leftmost pillar close to the door and peek out to your right. When you peek out fire off a 2 arrows at her, if it is her continue firing 2 more otherwise stop. If it was her she will relocate herself and the clones if not move onto the next one and do the same thing. The entire time you want to stay behind the pillars if you get to far away from them move onto the next pillar but after she relocates move back to the safe pillar i suggested before. If you repeat this process you should easily kill this boss without any trouble.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

3-2 - Maneater

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

This boss can be a huge pain but if you follow my strategy he will haunt you no more. First of all you want to have a strong bow and if your melee a strong spear too with a long thrust, or possibly even a nice aoe spell if your a mage.

To start the fight DO NOT enter the fog, move to the leftmost corner of the fog pushing against it. Now pull out the bow I told you to bring and pluck away at this boss and what do you know you CAN hit it through the fog. Take it down to just 1 shot of life lest (1-3 is ok too) then enter and when he charges you put one shot into his chest (always wanted to one shot a boss eh?).

Now for the 2nd Maneater, he will immediately descend on you so run to the huge brazier in the center as fast as you can. Line yourself up with him so that it is in between you and him, the brazier's base is square shapped so it may take him some time but eventually he will find a nice spot where he gets stuck and wont move. Then you can pluck away at his head and/or shoulder over the brazier with arrows. You can also stab through the brazier with a long thrusting spear but it is more dangerous, you may even be able to destroy him with some big aoe spells if you nail the brazier with them.

The most important part about this is to make sure once he is stuck in place to not move, and if you do not to use a spear only move forward and backwards so he stays stuck.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

3-3 - Old Monk

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

One of the few bosses that I suggest melee against, he descends on you so fast it is really hard to safely dispatch him with ranged. Lucky for us all he is a pushover and if you hit him with any weapon from a small sword to a huge axe he will get knocked back even more so with large weapons. If you continue doing this you will kill him very fast with little risk. Although to be safe I would have a good shield in your offhand so that you can block if need be.

Halfway through the fight he will start using moving soul arrow on you, which is an easy to dodge spell but very strong (when is depending on how fast you hurt him, I have killed him so fast he was only able to cast this once with the blueblood sword). To dodge it whenever you see the yellow balls surround him back up as much as possible, as soon as they move roll to the right or left and you should easily dodge them.

As much as it is risky, this boss is very easy to get too so i suggest using the Clever Rat Ring/Morion's Blade at 30% health if you have them. If you use a big weapon two handed you can kill him very very fast maybe before he even gets a chance to use the spell. A safer way would be to use the Clever Rat's Ring and the Blueblood Sword with light weapon on it but it requires that specific sword. This is safer because it causes move damage and you can still use a shield with it for protection.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here although use it at your own risk you can easily take damage but if you have a good shield and a powerful weapon you should be able to finish this fight fast.

World 4 - Shrine of Storms

4-1 - Vanguard

* Use Thief's Ring *

The easiest boss ever, bring arrows or soul arrow. After entering the fog gate and standing in the gateway where you can see the boss in the distance just start shooting at him. He doesn't move or anything so there is nothing to worry about, I told you it was easy...

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

4-1 - Adjucator

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

Another very easy boss and a melee one at that! I would suggest using your biggest damage weapons two handed against him since he cannot really do anything to you. When you first enter quickly descend the stairs as fast as you can to get behind him where you cannot be hit. After you get down with the behemoth start swinging at his weak side (with the butchers cleaver stuck in him). This will squirt out blood but not damage him, until he suddenly will fall over when you have done enough damage. When he falls his head with a little birdie is exposed, wail on that bird as much as you can anyway that you want until he stands back up or dies then repeat. Now how you dodge his only attack he will do to you down here, he will laugh a little "hehehe" creepy thing this is the signal to run to his swinging arm and roll. If you do this there is no way his swing will hit you, it is actually very simple to time and makes it a very easy boss to fight.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

4-2 - Old Hero

* Use Thief's Ring *

Yet again another simple easy boss in world 4, this boss although simple and easy is very cool. He is blind and cannot see anything you do if you are wearing your Thief's Ring just plug him with an arrow or spell, then wait for him to yell repeat until he dies. Make sure you stay behind the pillars where you cannot be hit just in case he gets a lucky swing off on you or you didn't wait for his yell and he jumps at you. I assume you could do this stabbing him in the back with melee too but I think ranged is a MUCH safer route to go with. Poison also is effective.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

4-3 - Storm King

* Use Thief's Ring *

Another cool but easy boss, apparently this is all world 4 is about... well and skeletons i guess. Now if this is your first time fighting him and you do not have the storm sword from here first thing I would do is just run all the way and pick it up and then run to the destroyed building. Now start popping mantas that fly overhead with arrows or spells to do this wait until they fire, then roll to dodge and immediately shoot at them when you stand and you will almost always hit them. Eventually after taking out enough of them the storm king will descend firing entire volleys of barbs at you. Fortunately you have a BUILDING haha.

When he comes straight at you stand in the upper right corner from the cliff-face, then back up and two hand the storm sword and slash him twice. When he comes from the side leave the building and stand on the other side of the wall you were just hiding at, after he passes slash him with two more two handed storm king hits. Repeat this a couple of times and he will eventually die, you can also do this with arrows but I think the storm king is more fun and simpler.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage but be warned killing the mantas you could die, but the boss is easy to not get hit.

World 5 - Valley of Defilement

5-1 - Leechmonger

* Don't Use Thief's Ring *

This is another super simple boss fight. Walk through the fog gate and pull out your bow of destruction, now fire away. Seriously this is ALL you do, you just shoot it until it dies it will try to regen so just make sure you aim high enough to hit it while it is doing this. The gross blobness that appears under it while it is regenerating doesn't count and doesn't hurt it so wathc out for this. Otherwise jsut sit back relax and fire off a barrage of arrows until it dies.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

5-2 - Dirty Colossus

* Use Thief's Ring *

Similar to the previous boss you just pummel this guy with arrows. Although differently, you must pop him with an arrow then hide behind the wall to your left as you enter (it hangs over enough to block all incoming projectiles). After the sludge stops flying at you pee out and pop off another arrow then hide again. All you have to do is continue doing this until it dies it will not do anything else differently and it will not regenerate so there is nothing to worry about.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

5-3 - Maiden Astraea

* Use Thief's Ring *

Again a arrow target is on this bosses face. When you walk in through the fog gate follow the winding path to your right and kill some praying fools until you reach the edge. Look down and you should be able to see the maiden and her super steel bodyguard, now aim carefully at her so that you will hit her. Then what do you know just keep shooting arrows at her non-stop and she will die. She will regenerate life so you must continue shooting her otherwise she will heal all her life back, just like the Leechmonger just gotta find the right spot and keep shooting.

After she is dead, go to options and click load game and load this file. It will reload and everything will be the same but her bodyguard will be dead and you will be able to loot his corpse of his shield and armor then go and get the maiden's soul.

* Clever Rat's Ring / Morion's Blade at 30% health works great here since there is no risk of taking damage.

This is awesome, great job. Can't wait to see your take on some of the other bosses. I'm all about cheesing the bosses at this point in the game (I'm midway through NewGame+, so I'm fairly tired of playing by the rules at this point), since it takes ~3 NewGame+ cycles and a 1 in 200 drop rate item to Platinum this game.

Bravo.

thanx bro this is really helpfull but for False King boss do u have a pic of the safe spot to hide cuz he come to me where ever i am !

Make sure you have the Theif's Ring on, it is to the right of the stairs right before you go up them. If you are still having trouble take off all soul increasing items such as the ring of avarice. I have heard these can attract monsters not sure how true it is tho.

I will try to get a pic for ya.

I took down the False King with poison cloud my first time at lvl 75ish, poison cloud is not effected by your magic damage so it is a good spell for non mages. I think it works off a percentage just like the poison that you can get.

An easier method (?) -- or rather, an alternate method -- for False King is to be sure NOT TO MOVE when you zone through the fog into the False King fight. If you have a Sticky Bow (range bonus) you can find the sweet spot (a little left of the boss's head, off in the distance) and pelt him w/ arrows. He won't react or engage you, so long as you brought enough arrows he'll die w/o ever moving.

The guide is finished now, happy demon hunting buddies! :D:D:cool:

If you have any comments/suggestion/questions just post them and I will respond to them. :p

If you suggestions are easier or faster I will add them and your name above them as your method so you get credit. Also since I might not get to try every suggestion people add, if I put up someones suggestion and it doesn't work as they say it does tell me and I will test it or take it down.

PS: Can we get a sticky for this?

- Ehou -

Since your version of the 4-1 boss 'False King' is faster (and cooler) I added it to the guide thank you for your contribution buddy. :D

...I have included if you should or should not use the Thief's Ring so make sure you are if you are supposed too!....

Thanks for all your effort and detail on the boss guide!

BUT...I'm confused about the using the Thief's Ring....why would I not use it??

I have used it for four boss battles so far and never though about unequiping it. Could you explain the resaon for not using it?

[sorry if it's a dumb question?]

It is not that you SHOULDNT use it, it is that there is no point in useing it.

I usually, unless I want enemies to charge me, always wear the theif's ring regardless. It is just that during these bosses you have no reason to because they know where you are all the time regardless. The only exception would be maybe Adjucatior and Old Monk because you do alot of melee so having the stamina regen ring (from old king) helps alot at times.

Maybe you might enjoy having the hp and/or mp regen rings on as well, personally other than early on with the mp regen and in the poison swamp with hp regen I didn't find them all that useful.

All in all it pretty much says "Don't Use" to let you know it is perfectly safe to not use the Thief's Ring during this strategy and it will have no harmful effects.

PS: Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!

For old king Doran, I would rather recommend that you lure him out to the first catapult without the thief's ring. When you manage to lure him out there, once he gets a short distance past the first catapult, he will automatically start walking back to the tower and back into his room. It is safe to unload on him with melee (even if he is facing you, as long as he is back trailing) before he gets to the steps of the tower. The reason for not using the thief's ring is so that if he does go into the tower and heads back across the walkway, he will auto aggro/run back if you're sitting right behind the first catapult (remember to walk back to the 2nd catapult to be safe).

The method to this madness is, as he is heading back to the tower, sprint to his left flank and attack him with your melee. This will push him into the corner with you blocking him; he will have no where to go but forward. There, you can use any means to kill him without having to sneak attack. Magic weapon will help greatly, that or Enchant Weapon spell. I've done this successfully with the spear and halberd in 2hd.

I've tried the sneak attack method numerous times only to get it in the face or in the back because I was losing my patience and getting careless.

Took me awhile last night to figure this out as I was showering him with arrows from the first/second catapult.

Great guide nonetheless, LordMaceX. ^_^

Some people already are, otherwise I might have attempted it.

You should still make one aswell.

Your's may be better and the guide team will always pick the best one....

By the way looking at this guide it's amazing, I think you would be the best guy to attempt a trophy guide.:D

People have it on the Asian ver but that is glitchy as hell so how would they know if any trophies were glitched?

Lol so whoever said they were making a guide shouldn't...;)

There are alot of people who know the asian version very well, I believe there are some who were making a guide. There is a thread in the Demon's Souls forum that someone made about it. Either way I think I am going to make a guide since I have already thought up half the guide in my head already I might as well put it in a guide for everyone to see.

Thanks for the encouragement, i hope it turns out up to people's expectations.

Expect it soon! :D
