i don't even know where to begin despite the guides that are on here, it just seems confusing to me.
it looks like there are alot of things to look out for to and things not to do and so on that it's difficult to keep track of. should a new player to demons souls simply beat the game first and then start going for the trophies to get a better understanding of the game or what do you think is best?

It's definitely a complex and very unforgiving game. Beyond that, a lot of stuff is not really explained within the game. World and character tendency and what affects them for example. I only played it recently, but I can't imagine how frustrating the plat must have been for those who got it early on.
At this point everything's been figured out and there's a ton of information out there. I was somewhat overwhelmed at first too. I definitely wouldn't let that stop you from playing the game though. Demon's souls is a fantastic game and something you should definitely try. In addition to all the great info in this forum, I found the wiki to be a good resource too. There's some maps of each area that were very helpful. Demon's Souls for PlayStation 3 - Demon's Souls English Wiki
