Any tips to help me defeat Old King Doran?

I'm having some trouble defeating Old King Doran. I get his health bar pretty far Down and then he starts running really fast and I can't roll out of the way fast enough to avoid his attack even though my soul level is 185. Can you better Demon's Soul's players help me,and give me some tips on how to kill him?

You could use some speel like poison cloud but it does only a little damage. How I did was equip the Dragon Bone Smasher (PWWT in world 2-3 you can get it) and when he is running you do a normal attack and he will fall. keep doing this. When he stops and defends do a strong attack on him and normal attack for him to fall, if you cant do the normal attack just run a little from him and after do the normal attack. I can tell you it's a good method that was how i killed him.

Or you could dupe more souls and over-level him.

I played ring around ( running around the tomb) while casting god's wrath never touched me.

That's what I've been doing, but I never can seem to get my soul level right.

Thief's ring + poison cloud. It will take a while but if you do it right he wont even notice you

God, I was so happy to return to Demon's Souls where glitches and exploits AREN'T the norm... and you guys are suggesting glitches and exploits... -_-

Doran is fuckin EASY! If you're a masterful warrior, he will pose a challenge. However ANY tactic that involves strategy, placement, or wits of any kind will absolutely obliterate Doran. The Thief's Ring Poison Cloud strategy is a fine example. The Fatal Death Fall strategy is another. The Thief's Ring Backstab strategy, almost ANY spell-involving strategy, and on and on.

Just check the Doran section of the wiki, and it will tell you AMPLE ways of killing him, legit.

He's easier first time while he's talking backstab him and he'll restart his speech backstab him again while he's speaking repeat till he dies.

I just used melee to gain his respect in NG, but to kill him and take his ring in NG+, I tried the method below :

Wore the thief ring, stood at the entrance and shot one arrow with a compound long bow +10. When Doran started running at me, I ran away to the beginning of the bridge. He reached the entrance, then gave up and went back to his original position. I repeated the process until he died.

To maximize the damage of the arrows, I used morion blade and clever rat's ring (used the red knight to drop my health below 30% but I read you can use Makoto to do this). Didn't take as long as killing the two dragons with soul arrows.

For some reason, I never managed to kill Doran using melee or magic (I was a spellsword). Black Phantoms Satsuki, Scirvir, Rydell or Miralda were way easier for me (never managed to beat BP Selen without soulsucker though).
