I was terrible when i first picked up Demon's Souls but with determination and perseverance, I achieved what I'd set out to do in about 120hrs or so. The more you play the better you should become in theory.

It really isn't hard.

I think most people complain about it because if they die than they lose a lot of progress and can't simply "try again" from a checkpoint. Some will argue that it is a bad design, but I believe that without a checkpoint system you're forced to take things more carefully and create efficient tactics.

A lot of it is just trial and error. Let's say I'm doing fine and I get to the Tower Knight boss fight and die because I was trying to attack him from the front. I know the mistake I made that got me killed so next time I can avoid death by not attacking him from the front.

It's all about patience and learning how to fight each kind of enemy since you can't simply button mash your way through everything.

It's definitely not a game for everyone but once you figure out how to do things it's a really amazing game.

If you're unsure whether or not to purchase it then watch some gameplay videos to get an idea of the mechanics of things to help you decide.

And trust me, your first time through the game is the hardest.

to the forum by the way!

Lol i was following a guide on (i dont remember). It was talking about the easiest load-out, which i forget what it was. But i had a spell that is a projectile and arrows as well as a sword and shield i think. I do well, but either get lost, or make a wrong turn and alert a knight across the bridge. Thing is i beat that knight one time.

After dyeing i come back and that knight rushes me. So i get worse instead of better.

Sounds like you started out as Royal. They start out at a very low level, but is very good for mage builds because of the starter stats. If you want an easy time, you could use Temple Knight. If you aren't going to play a lot online, what you start out with doesn't matter at all, except for the first level. When you decide to play more online later, you will find it easy to start a new character after you beat the game.

Use shield, move a lot so they miss their attacks instead of you using stamina to shield, try to back-stab enemies when they miss with their attacks.

Lol yeah, that Red-Eyed Knight is a pain in the ass if you try to fight him at first so it's best to avoid him.

Royal is a good choice for a beginner (assuming you comfortable being a mage) since you can take out enemies without have to get up close to them. Magic is also really effective on certain enemies and can make some boss fights a lot easier.

As MMDE was saying the Temple Knight is also a nice choice to start with since they begin at a high level and with some good equipment.

When you get to certain points in 1-1 of Boletaria you'll reach 2 staircases, each one has a lever at the bottom that you can pull that opens a gate near the main steps where you start so you don't have to go through the entire level.

Here is a nice guide from an awesome site that may help you: Boletaria 1-1 Walkthrough - Demon's Souls English Wiki And remember to leave the Red-Eyed Knight alone for now, he's not worth the hassle.

No, you don't need to do just the RIGHT thing.

There are so many different ways of playing the game, which is some of the fun, you just need to play more and find something you feel comfortable with, and trust me you will after beating a couple of bosses. You can read lots of guides and people will often tell you to do different things and use different weapons, but they may not fit the best for you, you need to test that yourself. I for example like to use Purple Flame Shield upgraded to max and Winged Spear (usually with magic upgrade, so I do damage even if people are holding up a shield, of course unless they got the Dark Silver Shield). You can attack with spear while you hold your shield up. This is something I fell in love with, along with the long reach and half-fast attack animations that never hit the wall around me in tight passages.

What the game does on the other hand is to punish you for every mistake you do. How you want to play the game is up to you and there are so many possibilities, and the more you play the game, the more possibilities you will learn.

I agree with MMDE here.

Never give up, trial and error are what make these games so great.
