Default failed to join session

hi guys, i decided to get back to demons souls because dark souls is just around the corner, but it seems that there are times where everytime i try to invade or get summoned it would say "invading" or "you're being summoned" then it would say failed to join session. im aware this is a somewhat common problem, so i tried to find a solution to this problem, my ports were already fowarded, have NAT 2, wirless connection, and belkin router(i also recently played RDR online and it worked fine). anyway it would keep doing that untill i restart my ps3 or sign off and sign back in. the only solution i havent tried yet is disabling my firewall for my computer while i play demons souls, i havent done this yet because theres mixed emotions on this, some ppl say its safe for your computer, others say its dangerous. any solutions? Please reply back i dont want there to be any online problems when dark souls comes out

if you live by yourself, or if you family or roommates dont mind, what you can do is try by passing your router altogether and connect your ps3 directly to your cable/dsl modem.

basically this removes the router from the equation, so if you are still having problems, it may be related to your ISP. one possibility is a bad ethernet cable, so consider buying a brand new one just in case. without the router in between, there should be no firewall issues. however, since your router wouldnt be connected, that obviously means no one else in your household can get online. at least then, you wont expose your PC to the internet without a firewall.

an alternative would be to disable the firewall on your router, and download/install a personal firewall on your PC. i would not recommend that tho, as most personal firewalls are kinda garbage (or at least the free ones are. you would have to pay for a decent/brand name one).

just something to try. if you find that you do not have issues at all, when you are connected directly, that could mean the problems you get while connected through your router may be related to the router. either the router is faulty, or the configuration is faulty. one way to avoid completely disabling your router is putting the IP/MAC Address of your PS3 in the DMZ of your router. this is supposed to effectively act like your PS3 is outside of the firewall (it should act as if it directly connected to your internet, instead of through your router). however, i have seen people claim they still have problems even after putting their PS3 in the DMZ. *shrugs*

hope this helps.

I have had that error happening a couple of times, it's kinda freaky at first, he tried to join me like 20 times, and it just wouldn't work. Then we tried someplace else, and it worked! =D

The game is a bit weird this way, if you can't make it to summon someone somewhere, change location. Make sure you also follow all the "rules" for summoning. If you can't see any ghosts, then that means you are disconnected from the server, and you need to restart the game!

Here's an easy test to see if you got dc'ed from the server.

Push select. If the screen comes up to leave a message, you're online. Seeing bloodstains and ghosts help, but sometimes you're in an area that isn't busy. Checking to see if you can leave a message is the quickest way.

Nice it worked out in the end then!

If it was the router, then it might be some problems with the UPnP / open ports settings, but I'm not sure why you are able to connect to and use PSN and not be able to play online in DS, but if you need to open ports, are you sure you opened the right ones? o.O And why would you get the message about you being invaded or summoned if it isn't open.

You could try to go back to your old router and see if it works now, and if it doesn't work, then try RDR again! o.O
