Dead Space: Extraction was originally released as a Wii exclusive. However, with the release of Dead Space 2, everyone purchasing the game on PS3 received the Limited Edition which had DS:E bundled on the disk free of charge. What this means is a full length (and more importantly full trophy list + platinum) game for nothing, awesome right? The game has been designed to make use of the Move controller. You'll find that using a regular controller will also work, although it's a lot harder to aim properly as they're clearly trying to get people to get a Move controller instead.

Please note that the following guide has been written from the perspective of a DS3 user rather than a Move controller, so some buttons may well be different. When trying to use the rock saw however, a DS3 is far more effective as the Move requires you to move the controller from side to side, rather than just pressing a button. Also note that in order to get the Platinum you will need two controllers (either 2 DS3 controllers, 2 move controllers or one of each) for the trophy Twice The Firepower.

Control Schemes

Although the guide is written from the perspective of a DS3 user, you can see below what each button does using the different control systems. This will let you figure out the correct button to use whichever controller you use.

1 Move + Nav/DS3: - thanks CoolDust -

:trigger: = Fire (:r1: on DS3)

:l2: = Kinesis (:cross: on a DS3)

:l1: = Reload (:square: on a DS3)

 = Stasis (:triangle: on a DS3)

:left: = Change weapon

:right: = Change weapon

 = Melee (Hold it and swing the Move.) (:l2: on DS3)

:move: = Kinesis (:cross: on a DS3)

:cross: = Statis (:triangle: on a DS3)

:triangle: = Switch between your weapons clockwise

:square: = Reload (:square: on a DS3)

:circle: = Hold and swing Move for Rock Saw (:l2: on DS3)

Introduction

The trophy set is pretty straightforward, the only downside is that there are a lot of easy but time consuming trophies. Unfortunately the game starts off with the two hardest difficulty settings locked, meaning you'll have to do at least 2 playthroughs of the story to get platinum. You'll also need to get through the story to be able to unlock all the challenges. Having said that, the way the game is set out you'll be much better playing the story 3 times. I've outlined the steps you should take below:

Walkthrough

Step One (Story Mode, Round One):

To start off with you'll want to play the story mode. Do this on Hard, which at the moment will be the hardest difficulty that is unlocked. The aim of this playthrough is to get all of the story related trophies (both the missable and unmissable ones) as well as the first two difficulty trophies, Survivor and P-Sec Officer. Keep an eye on the guide so you know which trophies you should be earning when. On top of this, you'll want to be sure to follow the collectibles guide (throughout the guide the blue text will take you to the collectables guide) so that you have all the weapons (Gun Dealer), all the upgrades (Weapon Nut) and all the text logs etc (Collector's Delight, No Stone Unturned, Scavenger, Treasure Hunter and Make Us Whole). Having completed this you will have polished off all trophies but the challenge ones, difficulty ones and star ones (all of which are covered below).

Step Two (Story Mode, Round Two):

Now that you've completed the game once you'll have unlocked Impossible mode. You'll need to go through the game again on Impossible mode in order to unlock Necro Slayer and Isaac 2.0.

Step Three (Story Mop Up):

If, after you're second playthrough you still need to do some trophies or are missing those last collectables, you can go through any chapters you need on Easy. In order to get the star-related trophies, you'll need to get through the levels perfectly. This is why you're best off doing them separately and on Easy. You need to be focusing solely on the perfect finish, rather than the other trophies. Completing this will earn you A Star is Born, Super Star (if you didn't earn this during your first run) and Mega Star.

Step Four (Challenges):

After completing everything related to the story, you'll have unlocked the 10 challenges. These are pretty straightforward and all follow the same theme of survival over 10 waves. Every weapon and upgrade you've got from the story will be available here, which is why it's best to do the challenges last when you have all weapons full upgraded.

Even if you have gotten this far using the Move, I recommend you do the challenges using a DS3. Although the aiming is not as straightforward, the ability to spam melee is easily worth the trade off.

Don't forget to check the collectibles guide for location details of all the guns. You do not need to collect every example of the weapon for this trophy, one of each is enough. Miscellaneous Story Related Trophies:

204.jpg  You Need Glasses Partner? (B)

Survive the shuttle flight with less than 10% of shields intact

This can be a very tricky trophy to get as it requires a bit of skill and a lot of luck to get your timings correct. It can be obtained at the beginning of chapter 4.

Your aim for this trophy is to survive this flight but in the mean time take enough damage to get your ships defences down to less than 10%.

You will start off this mission by manning a cannon, your task is to fend off any asteroids that are about to hit you. Aim for the red asteroids as they are the only ones heading towards the ship. Here you will actually want the majority of the asteroids to hit you causing your ship damage to go down slightly everytime. During this section I only shot about 10-15 of the asteroids, the rest I let damage the ship.

Once the battle with the asteroids is over you will be facing another onslaught but this time from friendly fire. Look out for the white balls in the sky that are flying at you here. Once again you need to make sure you defend yourself enough so you don’t die but take enough damage so you can earn the trophy. This is the last portion of this flight so you need to get below 10% before the firing stops. During this section I let about 50% of the shots hit the ship.

You can keep an eye on your ship's damage percentage by the small symbol in the bottom left hand side of the screen. When your screen goes slightly red, alerts start blaring & the symbol turns a red colour you will be at less than 10% so try and keep it there from then on.

As I said before it’s all about timing, if you happen to die or don’t get the required percentage by the time you reach the Ishimura then just restart the chapter as this section is at the very beginning.

NOTE: When I earned this trophy I was on Normal difficulty.

204.jpg  Skill - Reload (B)

Complete any level with at least 80% Perfect Reloads

To achieve a perfect reload you need to press :square: to reload your weapon, then watch the radial dial cross-hair on your screen and when the blue bar is inside the grey area hit :square: again. You should generally get into the habit of doing perfect reloads as it greatly speeds up reload time. I've found the rivet gun to have the easiest perfect reload bar. You also have infinite ammo so you could theoretically "farm" this. When you get to a point in a chapter where you've got to open a door, don't. Instead shoot your rivet gun once then reload. Repeat until you're confident you're up to 80% or above. Best done in the earlier chapters such as 1 or 2.

204.jpg  Skill - Accuracy (B)

Complete any level with at least 80% Weapon Accuracy

This is pretty simple and refers to firing your weapons. Yes, all weapons count towards getting this. You can't fire one shot with the plasma cutter getting 100% and then use another weapon for the rest of the Chapter firing whenever you like. With whatever weapons you use you need to hit 80% all the time.

To make this trophy easier for you I would simply wait until a necromorph is right near you. This increases the target meaning you have more of a chance to land a shot.

Another trick you may want to use is with the rock saw weapon you get on Chapter 1. If using a DS3 you can constantly spam :l2: as a necromorph is near you; it basically creates a small barrier meaning you are less likey to get hit. Now as the necromorph is right in your face you can pick off your shots more easily.

204.jpg  Skill - Stasis (B)

Complete any level with at least 80% Stasis Accuracy

Getting 80% Stasis accuracy is a walk in the park. On any Chapter use stasis on a necromorph one time. Make sure you do hit it. Now simply don't use stasis again for the rest of the Chapter and you'll get 100% accuracy. This is best done in the earlier Chapters, as later on you'll find you actually want to make use of it. Try to do this in chapter 1, 2 or 3. To use stasis simply aim at whatever you want to hit and press :triangle: (DS3) / :cross: (Move) to activate it.

204.jpg  A Star is Born (B)

Complete any level with a 5 star rating

Earned while going for Mega Star. See that trophy for help.

204.jpg  Rising Star (B)

Earn 10 stars on one profile

Earned while going for Mega Star. This trophy should be earned during your first story mode playthrough.

002.jpg  Super Star (S)

Earn 30 stars on one profile

Earned while going for Mega Star. Unless you're really struggling with the game, 3 stars should easily be achievable on each Chapter the first time you do it. Therefore you'll most likely earn this trophy during your first playthrough of the story.

b2a.jpg  Mega Star (G)

Earn 50 stars on one profile

50 stars represents 5 out of 5 on each of the 10 chapters. You can see how many stars you've got on your best run from the chapter select screen. The number of stars you get in a chapter relates to a number of things including:

  • The amount of damage you take
  • The number of times you restart because you failed something or died
  • Your accuracy with a weapon
  • Your accuracy with stasis
  • The number of items you pick up
  • Your puzzle success rate

Oddly, difficulty does not play a part in determining your rating. For this reason I highly recommend you attempt your 5 star run on Easy. That way if you do take damage it will be very minimal. Even if you never use stasis in normal play, make sure to use it at least one time and hit a necromorph so that you end with 100% accuracy. If you don't use it at all you'll get 0%.

b2a.jpg  Weapon Nut (G)

Max out all upgrades for every weapon on one profile

There are a total of 9 guns as outlined in Gun Dealer. Each weapon has a total of 4 upgrades, which means there are 36 upgrades in total to collect throughout each of the 10 Chapters. Check out the collectibles guide for location details.

Miscellaneous Hidden Trophies:

204.jpg  Twice The Firepower (B)(H)

Play cooperatively with a second player

All you need to do is have a second player join you, be it with a Move controller or DS3. As soon as they join you'll get this trophy. In order to get them in, start playing (the story or a challenge it doesn't matter) then hit the :ps: button. Once the controller is on press :start: and you'll see player 2 pop up on the screen. The trophy will follow right after.

204.jpg  Sharpshooter (B)(H)

Shoot the box hanging from the crane on the surface of Aegis 7

This trophy is obtained during Chapter 1.

You will start off this level inside a building, whilst talking you will put on a uniform & head towards a door that takes you outside. As soon as you step outside the door you should be able to see a red mist in the distance, just in front of this mist is the crane you are looking for.

As the game continues as normal you will walk across a bridge and head towards the crane. When you get near to it you will take a glance to your left which makes you look right at it. Now all you have to do is shoot the box down. Aim slighty above the box at the metal clippings and press :r1: (DS3) / :trigger: (Move) to fire your gun. If you have done it correctly the box will fall and you will earn yourself a trophy.

204.jpg  Too Much Firepower? (B)(H)

Open the secret weapons store in P-Sec

The secret weapons store is found during Chapter 2.

Near to the end of the Chapter you will enter the P-Sec headquarters. You will head up an elevator & eventually enter the room where you started the Chapter in, be careful here because it is also the first time you meet the necromorphs. Fend off the necromorphs and you will meet a girl named Lexine. Once she is following you, you will head down the elevator you just came up in. Upon exiting you will have the opportunity to look around, look to the left to spot a purple light on the wall. This is a fuse box, quickly try and shoot it to open up the secret weapons store and earn this trophy.

If you are too slow and happen to miss the shot then you will automatically be moved on through the Chapter. Therefore you will have to replay the Chapter to have another shot at getting this trophy.

204.jpg  What Did You Find? (B)(H)

Take a minor detour in the megavents

You take this minor detour in Chapter 3.

During chapter 3 you will head over a very dodgy looking bridge, once on the far side and after a small conversation you will have the option of taking one of two paths. Move your cursor over to the left hand side where the weird 'meat' is and press :cross: (DS3) / :move: (Move) to choose that path. Be aware that a necromorph will jump down at you asyou reach the end, kill it and hack the door panel by completing the small minigame. Once done successfully you will open the supply closet, this is where you will receive the trophy.

Be aware that there is also a weapon & text log inside this closet that you don't want to miss.

204.jpg  Taking Your Time, McNeill? (B)(H)

Admire the view in the crashed shuttle

This is obtained during Chapter 4.

After the first part of the level (the bit where you have to man the cannon) you will end up back inside the ship. After a small conversation your team will decide to move out & will walk down towards the uniforms in the ship. Once here you seem to take a sneaky peak at Lexine’s behind as she is putting new clothes on, you will hear Gabe say ‘Taking your time McNeil’. Before or after you here that you simply need to move your cursor onto Lexine’s behind & press :cross: (DS3) / :move: (Move).

002.jpg  Flushed (S)(H)

Defeat the giant necromorph in the water tunnels

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed.

This is the first real fight you'll face, and it's a tough one. It's the last thing you'll do at the end of Chapter 6. When you enter the large open space you'll find yourself being attacked by large tentacles. The two front tenticles will move into the air, they will now simultaneously open at the end to reveal their 'yellow eyes'. When one of them does this you need to fire at the yellow eye to damage the tenticle, It will then back away. If you don't do it correctly you'll get swiped, and there is no blocking it.

After you have damaged both tenticles a couple of times you will move onto a walkway to the left or right. On here will be a fan, as you take a quick glance at the fan you want to use stasis on it to slow it down, to use stasis simply press the :triangle: (DS3) / :cross: (Move) button. Damage the tenticle that is facing you until you have the option to look around, turn to face the fan, if you managed to use stasis on it then you will head inside he vent. The tenticle will follow you inside here and try to hurt you, when its yellow eye opens again shoot it & the tenticle will get caught in the blade causing the tenticle to be cut off. You'll now move back out into the centre of the area again.

Continue the previous process of damaging the last front tenticle until you move onto the next walkway. Use the same idea again as before. Stasis the fan when you look at it, damage the tenticle, when you have the option look at the fan to climb inside, damage the tenticle eye so it gets cut off. After that you will move into the centre area for the last time.

The next part is fairly simple. His two rear tentacles will attempt to grab you and drag you towards his mouth where he'll start biting you. If this happens keep firing at his mouth to get him to release you. What you have to do is pick up the floating red canisters using stasis and then throw them at each tentacle as it starts to come forward to grab you. You only need to do this once on each tentacle.

Finally he'll attack you with a ranged goo that hurts you. Thankfully spamming your rock saw with :r2: (on a DS3) stops you from taking any damage from these, but with Move you'll need to use stasis. While doing this aim with any weapon you've got at the large yellow lump on the bosses body. After enough hits it will die. As soon as you kill it the Chapter will end.

If at any point you die you'll get taken to the start of the boss fight again with low health and no health containers inside the two vents making it a lot harder, so try to do it first time. I used the Line Gun for the whole of this fight as it acts like machine gun and fires off a load of bullets at one time, this helps to make sure you hit your target.

002.jpg  Lexine, I Told You To Be Quiet! (S)(H)

Defeat the Brute

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed.

This is a boss fight in the middle of chapter 7. Right after you leave the small medical facility and go into the room with a large open space the Brute will attack from above. It's actually extremely easy to take out.

To begin with it will charge at you. In order to deal with this simply press :triangle: (DS3) / :cross: (Move) to use stasis on the Brute which will slow him to a stop. You'll automatically move around behind the brute so you can shoot at the yellow blob on the Brutes back. Hopefully you'll have picked up a weapon such as the Pulse Rifle or Contact Beam in the level already, as this really makes the fight a lot easier.

Soon enough after you have damaged the brute enough he should sit back, it will now begin to throw some goo at you, there are two things you can do at this point. One is to use your rock saw by pressing :r2: (DS3), this will protect you from being hit. You can also catch the goo with stasis & throw them back at the brute by presing :r1: (DS3) / :trigger: (Move). This will actually damage the brute and can be used t finish him off. It should die after 3 or 4 have been thrown back and you'll unlock the trophy once its down.

002.jpg  Sack Blast (S)(H)

Defeat the giant necromorph on the hull of the Ishimura

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed.

This isn’t until you reach the end of chapter 9. It is a boss battle and it actually occurs when you are outside in the zero gravity area.

Firstly the creature will try to attack you with its two tentacles. As each one rises It will turn slightly to reveal a yellow weak spot at the end of the tentacle, you should aim your fire at this weak spot. After you damage each tentacle a couple of times a tongue like thing will come out of the creature and seem to swallow you. When you are inside the tongue small yellow balls will appear inside on the edges, once again these are weak spots so you should aim your fire at these in order to escape. As you escape the openings of the tongue thing are yellow, shoot these to damage the creature again.

The creature will now bring out a very large arm/tentacle thing made out of big yellow balls. By now you should know that yellow spots are weak points so concentrate your fire at these balls. As you shoot them they will go darker and darker, you want to continue shooting them until they actually blow up. Once you have blown these up a couple of leaper necromorphs will attack you, just deal with these as normal. You will now turn back to look at the necromorph, there is one more yellow ball for you to deal with, shoot it and blow it up. Straight after there will also be another tiny yellow ball to shoot.

The battle will continue on and you will have to repeat some of the processes as explained in the paragraphs above. Eventually the creature will die & you will earn yourself a trophy.

Challenge Related Trophies:

204.jpg  Overtime Sheet (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Extraction Site' Challenge

You'll unlock the Extraction Site Challenge after completing Chapter 2 of the story mode. The top score is 251,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

You get 250 points for each limb you take off, 100 for each item you pick up and 20 for each perfect reload. You then also get points on a sliding scale based on how many enemies in a row you kill without taking damage, starting on 500. So if you kill 2 enemies without taking damage you get 500 for the first and 550 for the second. If you build this streak up to 20 you'd get 1,450 points for the 20th, 1,500 for the 21st and so on. I managed to get a 91 kill streak (there are only 91 enemies) and ended the challenge with 289,238 points. If you take damage in the first 6 waves restart or you won't have enough of a streak to get the required points.

I have found an incredibly easy way to get through some of these challenges. The flame-thrower. You can't unlock this until Chapter 3 in the main story and you'll not be able to fully upgrade it until the end of Chapter 8. Now if you are using a DS3 (recommended for challenges), what you need to do is constantly spam :r2: so you are using your rock saw. This acts as a sort of shield against necromorphs. While doing this you also want to gently tap :r1: while having the flame-thrower as your weapon (be sure to select it as the starting weapon before you begin each challenge). This will give off jets of fire which will set light to the necromorphs. You won't be able to get full points for dismembering limbs, you'll get a flat rate of 500 per kill + the sliding scale multiplier. This is more than enough to reach the score targets however.

The benefit of doing this is that you start with around 300 shots of flame which easily lasts until round 5-6. You also get 100 shots for every pick-up so be sure to check out crates and of course the floor after killing necromorphs. All you need to do is set fire to the necromorph and let them burn for easy points. When a necromorph is set alight it also staggers backwards a bit so you don't need to panic if they seem like they are about to hit you. It's an incredibly easy way to take out 3-4 at once when a normal gun would leave you getting swamped and more importantly, taking damage which kills the streak. Just remember, gentle bursts and not keeping your finger on the trigger or you'll be out of shots in no time. If you do find yourself out of shots then switch to one of the weapons you randomly got during the challenge and make full use of it until you get more ammo for the flame-thrower.

204.jpg  No Cop Duty (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Central Plaza' Challenge

You'll unlock the Central Plaza Challenge after completing Chapter 3 of the story mode. The top score is 252,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

Refer to the tactic in Overtime Sheet for this challenge. You'll face a new enemy, a flying necromorph. You need to be aware that they will swoop at you so be sure to be spamming :r2: so your rock saw stops them from damaging you. At the same time press :r1: to fire your flame-thrower and you'll set them alight so they burn as they fly around. I managed to get an 82 kill streak and ended the challenge with 277,631 on my first attempt so this is very easy. If you take damage in the first 6 waves restart or you won't have enough of a streak to get the required points.

204.jpg  Engineer By Trade (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Maintenance Bay' Challenge

You'll unlock the Maintenance Bay Challenge after completing Chapter 5 of the story mode. The top score is 253,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

This challenge sees the introduction of the small necromorphs with the 3 tentacles sticking out the back. They will keep their distance and shoot at you. You'll also face the large mother necromorphs that spawn those annoying little things that damage you. For this reason the Flame-thrower tactic can't be used effectively. It is still possible, however you'll need to switch to the Rivet Gun to dispatch the necromorphs, or wait for them to move closer before you get them with the Flame-thrower. Provided you are using a DS3 and pressing :r2:, it is possible to deflect the projectiles they shoot at you, although if you're facing a number of them they'll get through. The best way I've found for this challenge is to use the Line Gun. Not only is it great for taking out the mother necromorph before it releases it's babies, but if you aim in the middle of a necromorph with the Line Gun you'll completely de-limb every part of his body which is 1,000 points right from the off. The only problem is you run out of ammo really fast so try to build up a streak of 50-60 at the start then switch to the Rivet Gun and whatever else you get. I got a streak of 49 and ended the challenge with 278,297 points. There are around 140 enemies so if you manage to get 3 streaks of around 40-45 or one streak of 80-90 you'll be fine.

204.jpg  Laugh It Up Partner (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Mess Hall' Challenge

You'll unlock the Mess Hall Challenge after completing Chapter 6 of the story mode. The top score is 254,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

This is another really easy challenge and you can make full use of the tactic explained in Overtime Sheet. This challenge introduces necromorphs that fire goo at you. These can be destroyed with the DS3 :r2: rock saw attack. Alternatively you can catch the goo with kinesis and throw it back with :r1:. Be ready to use stasis on the mother necromorphs, and on the rare occasions when they are too far away for the Flame-thrower use your Rivet Gun. I got a kill streak of 118 (all of the enemies) which gave me 486,685 points. You want to aim for a streak of around 60-70 or 3 lots of 40ish to hit the target. If you get hit before wave 6 restart.

204.jpg  Colony Full Of Crazy People (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Medical Bay' Challenge

You'll unlock the Medical Bay Challenge after completing Chapter 6 of the story mode. The top score is 255,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

This is another really easy challenge and you can make full use of the tactic explained in Overtime Sheet. I got a kill streak of 118 which gave me 536,550 points. You want to aim for a streak of around 70-80 or 3 lots of 45 to hit the target. If you get hit before wave 6 restart. Don't forget if you run low on ammo for the Flame-thrower to make use of other weapons. Early on you can use the Rivet Gun (if it's fully upgraded) and it does some serious damage, saving precious ammo for when you've facing multiple necromorphs. As usual make sure to use stasis on the mothers before they unleash the little necromorphs. If she does get the Flame-thrower out and fry the floor infront of you to stop them jumping on you.

204.jpg  Need A Towel (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Water Tunnels' Challenge

You'll unlock the Water Tunnels Challenge after completing Chapter 8 of the story mode. The top score is 256,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

This is another easy challenge and you can make full use of the tactic explained in Overtime Sheet. I got a streak of 63 which gave me 294,514 points. As with the other levels, a streak of 80-90 or 3 streaks in the high 40's will be enough to reach the required score. This level is the first time you'll meet those annoying necromorphs with the really long and thing neck and a head. They are very fast and are what constantly destroyed my streak so always be ready to fry them as soon as they appear, they take priority. You can always use stasis on them to slow them down but in my experience once they are being burnt, they won't then hit you.

204.jpg  Herbal Remedies (B)

Beat the top score on the 'East Grow Chamber' Challenge

You'll unlock the East Grow Chamber Challenge after completing Chapter 8 of the story mode. The top score is 257,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

As we get further into the levels, making a streak of almost all the enemies becomes less important. 6 levels in, and the top score requirement has gone up by just 6,000. In contrast, the number of necromorphs in the first level was less than 100 yet this level has almost 160. This means a lot more points so getting hit once doesn't mean you need to instantly restart. I got a streak of 71 which gave me 384,083 points. A few streaks of 40's will do the job too though. While the tactic in Overtime Sheet will work fine, for this level I decided to use the Force Gun. There is a simple reason for this, this level contains a lot of containers making ammo less of an issue. I also find that the Flame-thrower can be a bit slow when trying to take out the dark necromorphs, while the Force Gun will happily take out 2 or 3 of those guys in just 3 shots. On top of this every limb is blown off the necromorph meaning you maximise your points. This counterbalances the higher likelyhood of actually taking damage and ruining your streak.

204.jpg  Ready For Takeoff (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Shuttle Bay 47' Challenge

You'll unlock the Shuttle Bay 47 Challenge after completing Chapter 9 of the story mode. The top score is 258,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

Yet another level where the tactic explained in Overtime Sheet works wonders. Alternatively the method explained in Herbal Remedies also works well as there are just under 200 necromorphs to this level, a staggering 40 more than the last level, and again the top score only increased by 1000 points. This is an extremely easy level to beat. I got a streak of 80 which gave me 455,050 points.

204.jpg  Bridge Commander (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Atrium' Challenge

You'll unlock the Atrium Challenge after completing Chapter 9 of the story mode. The top score is 259,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

This is another straightforward challenge that can be done using either the tactic outlined in Overtime Sheet or the one in Herbal Remedies. There are not any new enemies, although the map is quite a large one so you might find it a bit harder using the Flame-thrower. I got a streak of 56 which gave me 408,586 points. As there are a whopping 220 enemies in this challenge, getting a high streak is really not important.

204.jpg  Get A Medic (B)

Beat the top score on the 'Life Support Room' Challenge

You'll unlock the Life Support Room Challenge after completing Chapter 10 of the story mode. The top score is 260,010 so you need more than this to earn the trophy.

This level is a strange one because it is done in zero gravity. Because of this, the type of enemies you'll be facing are just two, the ones that crawl along the floor and attack you with their tail and the little baby ones with tentacles that fire at you. What this means is that you'll be able to use the tactic from Overtime Sheet, but you'll also need to be ready with the Rivet Gun as the baby necromorphs never get close enough to be able to get shot at with the Flame-Thrower. One thing to note is that at the end of each round you'll have to jump to the next ledge before the next round starts, which means you'll be able to reload all your weapons and pick up all the ammo before you do this. I got a streak of 52 and that gave me 280,591 points. There are not so many enemies in this round so you'll want to aim for as big a streak as you can. 80+ is good.

Chapter 1

Text Log

Continue through the beginning of this chapter until the marker begins to make the screeching noise. After that you will run inside into a building. After entering this building you will pick up a glow stick, as you walk forward after picking it up you will head towards a door, on the floor near the door is the text log.

Text Log

After meeting your first lot of crazy people you will head through a door and begin to walk down a spiralling slope. On the walls are lockers that can be opened by pressing :cross:, this text log is in the second locker you come across.

Weapon - Plasma Cutter

After the last collectible you will come to a door at the end of the slope. After heading through the door you will go across a bridge & continue on down the left path of a platform. Your team mate that’s with you will then tell you to pick up the plasma cutter, you will turn to face it on your left hand side.

Weapon Upgrade - Rivet Gun

You’ll soon enter a room where you spot an engineer banging his head on the wall repeatedly, this is just behind him on the floor.

Text log

After your small conversation with Lexine you will come to a platform & will once again be attacked by some crazy engineers, just take care of them in the usual fashion. Afterwards you will hear a voice say ‘you’re going the wrong way’, you will turn around pretty fast to face a door in the distance and some boxes to your left, the text log is well hidden between the boxes.

Upgrade - Plasma Cutter

Immediately after the previous collectible you will head towards the door you should be facing. As you are walking towards the door you should be able to spot the upgrade sitting on the floor.

Audio Log

Straight after the last collectible you will head through the door into an anti-gravity area. Once inside you will have the chance to look around, look to your left to spot the audio log floating in mid-air.

Chapter 2

Text Log

At the beginning of chapter 2 you will have a talk with a person called Gabe Weller. He will ask you to escort his team down to the morgue. As the conversation finishes you will begin to walk, you will head up a small set of stairs where some lockers are directly in front of you. In the locker to the far left side is the medical log.

Weapon - Plasma Cutter

This is located at the beginning of the level. After the conversation with Gabe Weller you will start walking, eventually you will head up a tiny set of stairs with some lockers located directly in front of you. On top of these lockers in the middle is the plasma cutter.

Text Log

Continue through the chapter and through your first contact with the zombies, you will head out into a small area where a guy seems to be keeping two hostages at gun point. Soon you will have to kill him & your team will leave through a door. After they have left the other two people will attack you, kill them and you will look to your right hand side, the text log is on the floor here.

Weapon Upgrade – P-Sec Pistol

Straight after the previous text log you will open a door and head into a long corridor. As you walk down the corridor you should be able to spot this on the left hand side behind a medical trolley.

Text Log

This is found immediately after the weapon upgrade. You will continue down the corridor and head to the right hand side. You will open a door into a lobby area, directly in front of you on the floor is this text log.

Weapon Upgrade – Rivet Gun

Continue on and you will head outside into mayhem. Go through this area until you meet back up with your team, soon you will head into the P-Sec Headquarters. Once through the door look to the right hand side slightly round the corner to find this weapon.

Weapon – Pulse Rifle

Once in P-sec headquarters you will head up an elevator and re-enter the room you first started the level in, be careful here because it is also the first time you meet the necromorphs. Fend off the necromorphs and you will meet a girl named Lexine. Once she is following you, you will head down the elevator once more. Upon exiting you will have the opportunity to look around, look to the left to spot a purple light on the wall. This is a fuse box, quickly try and shoot it to open up the secret weapons store. Head into the store and on the shelf to the right is the Pulse Rifle.

Weapon Upgrade – Plasma Cutter

Continue through the story mode & you will head outside into the huge open area once more. After dealing with the necromorphs that attack you will go under a barricade and enter a long corridor towards the shuttle ports. At the end of this corridor on the left is the upgrade. This is hidden slightly so you will need to be accurate.

Chapter 3

Weapon Upgrade – P-Sec Pistol

Right at the beginning of the level you will encounter some necromorphs that emerge through a grate, after they have been dealt with you will need to re-enforce the grate. After doing that you will move to the left, just around the corner on the floor is the upgrade.

Text Log

Straight after the weapon upgrade you will move to a small section where you have the option to look around, I don’t think it matters which way you look here but keep looking to the right anyway. When you turn to face the right hand side the log is on the floor in front of some weird red stuff.

Text Log

Continue on until you head over a very dodgy looking bridge, once of the far side and after a small conversation you will have the option of taking one of two paths. Move your cursor over to the left hand side where the weird red stuff is and press :cross: to choose that path. After killing the necromorph and hacking the door panel you will open a supply closet. Inside the closet is this text log.

Weapon Upgrade - Pulse Rifle

This is in the same closet above and is next to the text log.

Weapon - Pulse Rifle

After you head back from the supply closet you will take the other path that leads you down a ladder. Continue on through a ‘meat’ wall & move across the bridge. After dealing with a few necromorphs and moving further on you should spot this slightly hidden on the right hand side.

(If you encounter the arm that grabs Lexine without having picked this up then you have gone too far.)

Weapon - Plasma Cutter

Shortly after the previous collectible you will pass through another ‘meat’ wall and onto a small platform. On this platform you will eventually have the option to look around, if you look up you will see the plasma cutter in an orange pipe.

Weapon Upgrade - Plasma Cutter

Thanks Skryblz for describing the location

I found it in the distance immediately after the 2nd meat wall and Lexine is grabbed. Look at the platform in the distance behind the dead guy on the boxes, it should glimmer purplish against all the blackness. If it was missed there I'm pretty sure you can get it after the first wave of enemies once you get to the next platform.

Weapon - Flame Thrower

Eventually after a lot more necromorphs attack you the bridge you are on will begin to collapse & after all the action you will end up on another platform. Continue through the two ‘meat’ walls towards the orange light at the end, here hidden to the left on the shelf is the flamethrower.

Audio Log

Shortly after collecting the flamethrower you will enter the vents. Carry on around the corner until you hit your first ‘meat’ wall, go through the wall and around the corner to the right is this audio log.

Weapon Upgrade - Flame Thrower

Right at the end of the vents you will go down a long shaft where it is very dark. You will constantly be attacked by the leaper necromorphs, deal with them and continue on. When you reach the end of this shaft you should come out into a ‘clean’ shaft where there is no ‘meat’. You will quickly look to the left & see the flamethrower upgrade. You will have to be really quick to grab this.

Text Log

Immediately after exiting the vents you will look to the left hand side, here is a shelf and on the shelf is the text log. Again you will have to be quick to grab this, you do turn around once more so you may have a second bite at it if you missed it the first time round.

Chapter 4

Audio Log

After exiting the zero gravity area you will be in a room. Go through the door here and you will turn to the left, to the left on a trolley is the audio log.

Weapon Upgrade - Rivet Gun

From the previous collectible continue on through the next big room and enter the communications room. After your brief encounter with a necromorph you will have to open a door, inside and to the bottom left is this upgrade.

Weapon - Pulse Rifle

After you complete the mini game for the booby trap you will continue down the corridor and enter a small supply closet on the right hand side. In here you will have the option to look around, look to the left hand side to find this weapon.

Weapon Upgrade - Pulse Rifle

Directly onwards from the previous collectible you will look under a door but after spotting a leaper necromorph you will start to run. You run straight ahead and enter another door, in here to the left is the weapon.

Text Log

This is in the same room as the last collectible. You will spot a body on the floor in this room, after running towards it you will look to the left briefly & this is located on the floor to the left.

Video Log

Head from the previous collectible through the doorway and into a small room. You will soon have the option to look around in here. After you will move to the left and look at a table, directly in front of you is the video log.

Weapon - Flame Thrower

As you move on through this room you will come to a section where you have a choice on which path to take, take the path that leads straight ahead. This is on a table to your right for a very brief second, so make sure you’re quick.

Weapon - Line Gun

This is in the same room as the last collectible, you will have to take the path straight ahead again to find this one. You will head up the elevator and onto a balcony above, deal with the necromorphs here & go through the door ahead. In here to the left is the weapon.

Weapon Upgrade - Flame Thrower

Straight after the previous collectible you will enter yet another room, it is in the middle of this room. When you move forward you will be able to collect this.

Text Log

After fending off the necromorphs from the last collectible you will want to get the hell out of that room. So as you run forward you will go through a doorway, to the left through the doorway is the text log.

Text Log

From the previous collectible you will re-enter the main room and be with your squad members again. You will head through a door and make your way towards an elevator, fend off the necromorphs and head down this elevator. Once at the bottom you will look around slowly, when you look to the left you should see a purple light on the wall. This is another fuse box, shoot this to gain access to a supply closet and in there you will find this collectible.

Weapon Upgrade - P-Sec Pistol

This is in the same supply closet as the last collectible, make sure you are quick enough to grab it before you turn around.

Weapon - P-Sec Pistol

From the last collectible you will move onwards through a doorway. Upon entering here you will have the chance to look around, this collectible is down to your left hand side. If you happen to miss this first time then don’t worry, as you move through this room you will have another very brief chance to grab this when you turn towards the door you came through.

Chapter 5

Audio Log

As you are travelling through the vents you will suddenly turn to look to the right, there will be a necromorph that suddenly disappears. Anyway, where it was is this audio log.

Weapon - Line Gun

As you drop from the vents you will have a short amount of time where you can look around. Look to the left to find the line gun sitting on a shelf.

Weapon Upgrade - Pulse Rifle

This is in the same room as the last collectible. When you have the chance to look around face forward and look straight up, the upgrade is slightly hidden in an air duct.

Weapon Upgrade - Plasma Cutter

After you have progressed on with the story you will reach an anti-gravity room. Continue on in this area until you get to a door, leave through the door and you will have the chance to look around. Look to the right and on a shelf is the upgrade.

Weapon Upgrade - Line Gun

After the previous collectible you will walk through another door, there is a breach in the room next to you so you almost get sucked outside. When everything is calm you begin to look at the ship outside, on its wing in front of you is the weapon.

Text Log

Following on from the last collectible you will walk through a locker room. You will then go into a second locker room, the text log is in the far right corner of this room.

Weapon - Flame Thrower

As you exit the second locker room you will turn left to face a dead body, on the floor to the left is the flamethrower.

Text Log

Continue on after the last collectible and you will enter some more vents. Soon in these vents you will be given the option of which path to take, choose to take the left path. As you turn around the left corner the text log will be in front of you.

Weapon Upgrade - Arc Welding Gun

As you exit the vents you will drop down into a morgue. Be careful here as a lot of necromorphs will begin to attack. The upgrade is the far left corner of this room, you can grab it during the fight with the necromorphs. Alternatively when the fight is over you will have the chance to look around, simply look to the right and you can grab it then.

Weapon Upgrade - Rivet Gun

After the morgue section you will ride up the elevator to the ER. As the elevator doors open you should be able to see the upgrade in the far left corner. You will exit the elevator pretty quickly so you will have to be fast to grab it.

Weapon - Arc Welding Gun

Once you leave the main ER room you will begin to walk down a small corridor. On the right hand side of this corridor is a purple light which represents a fuse box, shoot the fuse box when it’s in sight to open the door to a supply closet. In this supply closet on the shelf to the right is the weapon.

Weapon - Plasma Cutter

Once you have barricaded yourself into the room there will be a small conversation where Lexine and Eckhart say they are going with you to Engineering. After exiting the door the plasma cutter is in the distance to the left hand side.

Text Log

Right after the previous collectible you will go through another door, the collectible is inside this room but is very tricky to collect. In the room you will take a very very quick glance at some seats to your left, the text log is on those seats. To maximise your chance of getting it try to keep your cursor nearer to the left hand side of the screen, that way when you turn it should be in the perfect position. And if in doubt just hit :cross: to try and pick it up, you might get lucky.

If you do happen to miss it then don’t worry, if you die on purpose after you climb down you will respawn just before the collectible.

Chapter 6

Text Log

After the initial falling sequence you will end up back on your feet, you will continue on and turn a corner to the left. After dealing with the necromorph you will turn back around, Lexine will gasp & something will fall down from the ceiling. You will walk forwards and turn slightly to the right where you can see a locked door, the text log is in a vent in the ceiling. You will need to shoot out this vent before you can grab it.

Weapon - Line Gun

Just after the last collectible you will carry on walking & you will encounter another necromorph. Deal with that & you will hear Lexine complain about a headache, to the right of you is a platform and in the middle of this is the weapon.

Weapon - Arc Wielding Gun

You will come to a section where you have to choose a path, choose any path you like. Deal with the onslaught of necromorphs here & you will move on to another section. Once again a lot of necromorphs will attack you here, deal with them however you wish. Once the fight is over you will take a quick glance to your left, the gun is high up here on a console.

Weapon - P-Sec Pistol

This is after the big ‘pool’ area where you have to search for Lexine. You will come to a section where a lurker necromorph is on a platform and a few other necromorphs are coming towards you. Take care of them and you will move forward, look to the left where the lurker was to see the Pistol high up on a pipe.

Weapon Upgrade - Line Gun

From the previous collectible you will walk around a corner. Just after you hear Gabe tell you to ‘man up’ you should be walking towards two platforms. This collectible is in the vent above the right platform, you will need to shoot out the vent before you can pick it up.

Weapon Upgrade - P-Sec Pistol

Immediately after the last collectible you will head round a corner. You will spot a body on the platform to your left, the collectible is in the vent above this platform. Once again you will need to shoot out the vent before you can collect the upgrade.

Weapon - Force Gun

Continue on through the following sections and deal with any necromorphs that get in your way, you will soon climb a ladder and you will say ‘Finally some higher ground’. Continue forward and enter the vents, upon exiting you will briefly look to your right, in the smoke is the gun.

Audio Log

This is in the same area as the previous collectible. After you reactivate the extraction fan you will drop down into the water below. As you land you should see the audio log to your left.

Weapon Upgrade - Force Gun

Just around the corner from the previous collectible is a platform to the right, the collectible is in the air vent above the platform. Just shoot out the vent to grab it. You can get this before or after you have dealt with the Lurker that appears.

Weapon Upgrade - Flame Thrower

Onwards from the last collectible you will come to an area where you have to choose paths, take the path that leads to the right. Move on and cut through the ‘meat’ wall, you will come to a platform on your left. The collectible is in the vent above the platform, shoot out the grate to pick it up.

Weapon - Contact Beam

Immediately after the last collectible you will go around a corner towards another ‘meat’ wall. Cut through this and walk up to the platform on your left, the gun is sitting on this platform.

Text Log

Immediately after the last collectible you will continue forward and be met by some necromorphs. On the left is a platform with a lurker on top, deal with the necromorphs and you will turn to face this platform. On the console slightly to the left is the text log.

Text Log

Continue on from the last collectible and turn round the corner to see a platform on your right. As you move forward you will turn to face the platform, in the vent above is the text log. Shoot out the grate to pick it up.

Weapon Upgrade - Arc Wielding Gun

This is obtained during the boss fight at the end of the level. There are two walkways in this boss fight, the collectible is located on the right walkway. To get onto a walkway you first need to damage the two tentacles in the middle of the screen, simply do this by firing at the two tentacles’ ‘yellow eyes’. When you are on the right walkway continue to damage the tentacle until you have the option of looking around, look to your right and the upgrade is on the floor.

YOU MUST COLLECT THIS BEFORE YOU STASIS THE FAN. OTHERWISE YOU WILL CUT OFF THE TENTACLE AND YOU WON’T STEP ON THE WALKWAY AGAIN.

Chapter 7

Text Log

This is located in the room you start the level in. After you first encounter the necromorphs you will see a bunch of lockers to the right hand side. After all the necromorphs are dead you will turn to face the lockers, open the one in the middle to find the text log.

Weapon Upgrade - Contact Beam

As you enter the next room you will once again be faced with a wave of necromorphs. Kill them and you will begin to walk forward, you will look down to an area below and then suddenly to your left. As you look to the left the upgrade is at the far end of the room & slightly to the left, it’s easy to miss so try and be quick.

Audio Log

After you head down the elevator and take care of the baddies, you will enter free-view. This will be in the first alcove on the left.

If you're unable to get it then you can try and do the following:

I did manage to get that audio log when you & Lexine are running towards the elevator and the camera angle turns back towards Lexine. I spammed kinesis at the right side and somehow got it by luck.
Thanks to Sharksfan24 for this tip

All of the trophies should be finished off, the collectible guide is also done. The guide spreads over 11 pages, so if you are on the '10 posts shown at once' setting then you will have to go to page 2 to see the last chapter.

This Guide is fantastic, and much more detailed than the other one available on this board (especially regarding the Challenges). I vote for it to be stickied!

Thanks for the kind comments mate.

Dam nice looking gude! :) I have some questions: Im on chapter 9 on normal, will i unlock impossible difficulty after i finish? Also about spamming R2 to use the rock saw, do you mean on the DS3? What button uses the Rock saw on the move? Dont even think i have used it... :p Im using the Move and a DS3 setup.

@ Darth_Krid - I doubt he was being sarcastic :)

@ CoolDust - I have no idea about the controls for the move, both myself and Rockets played using a DS3. When you find the button let me know and I'll put it in.

Dont think that strategy works with the move, using move and a DS3 you need to hold down on the D-pad and swing the move for melee. Pressing :trigger: (Fire) does nothing. Theres 3 control schemes for this game:

- 1 Move

- 1 DS3

- 1 Move + Nav/DS3

Here are the controls for 1 Move + Nav/DS3:

:trigger: = Fire

:l2: = Kinesis

:l1: = Reload

 = Stasis (Freeze enemies)

:left: = Change weapon

:right: = Change weapon

 = Melee (Hold it and swing the Move.)

Weapon Upgrade - Plasma Cutter

I am still unsure of whereabouts you can pick this up from. I manage to grab it from a distance shortly after Lexine was grabbed from the arm thing.

So if anyone can give me the location of this it will be greatly appreciated.

I found this item. After Lexine is taken into the air by the arm and she drops. You will hear "we need to stop fighting amongst ourselves" look to the VERY back and spot the blue light. It is really back there but you can grab it.

Note it is possible to get it after but I grabbed it as soon as I seen it.

I wanted to add something about an item in Chp 5:

Weapon Upgrade - Rivet Gun

After the morgue section you will ride up the elevator to the ER. As the elevator doors open you should be able to see the upgrade in the far left corner. You will exit the elevator pretty quickly so you will have to be fast to grab it.

I actually missed this my first time through the room. When you come back and take out the power cell you have a short window to grab it. I got it.
