level glitch with goty edition

Just started this game, I have the goty edition. Can anyone confirm that I can do the thug level glitch using this edition? And if so, when in the game can I make it happen?

It's not possible I'm afraid as the GOTY Edition has the 1.05 patch baked onto the disc so you will have to level up the old fashioned way by just playing the game.

Anyone know if the GOTY edition works on a save file from the original version?

It does. I have an old save from last year and I bought the GOTY edition, works fine 92% on trophies

ok i'm confused.com here,
i just bought the game of the year edition to night and just stuck it in and the game claims to be version 1.3.0
(i bought the uk version)

so will the exploits work or not considering its not 1.05?

yeah the GOTY edition is version 1.03 (i have it too).
but no the glitches are patched.
the only glitch that still is possible is the duping with the chainsaw.
but u need to be with 2 for that.
all the level up things are patched.
but since u have the GOTY edition you should just do the arena bquz that levels you up quite fast on a fun and legit way.

That's a known glitch, 1.03 IS 1.05 or at the very least it's the GOTY Edition's version of 1.05, either way it means all the big Exploits are gone. It's a counting glitch with how the Patch is identified by the game. The original release was the same and Identified itself as 1.04 when it was in fact 1.05. It's confusing I know but that's Dead Island for you .

The only thing i can recommend for leveling up quick with goty edition (as slow as it is) Is collecting money and champagne from safes and fridges in the Laboratory. Then fast travel somewhere else, and travel back to reset the chests. Rinse and Repeat. Doing this will get you around 120k an hour plus champagne=diamonds so around 135. Then buy oleander with all this money and hand it into the other guy.
To be honest I enjoy this game so much I'm happy to play it several times. It's also fun to join lower level players and give them a hand

Curious I keep seeing you have to play multiple times just for lvl 50 trophy. Well I just started chapter 3 and im almost 18. Am i doing good on the levels or what?

You can still duplicate ALL your stuff with the GOTY editiion.

For easy leveling, duplicate enough med packs, deo bombs and AMMO (bleach and metal scrap) then hop into Arena A, survive 30/40 waves (they ll go down with 1 bullet). I got around 300000 xp and tons of money in 1,5 hour game.

For just money I dubli 8 shock rifle a time x 6700 = around 50 k in under a minute. To be sure all is saved after dubli and selling it, I go fast travel and then reload my last checkpoint. Works great.
