Its a formula alot of people enjoy and pretty unquie but the design never really supported the idea of playing with friends in a delibrate way, thus the hassle when you try to do so.

Play it. Experience it. Love it.
Or not. In that case: sell it.

Nothing stops players from cooping/PVPing in New Londo before "fixing the flooding", just like nothing stops them from playing online in Anor Londo before they open the main gates. Players CHOOSE to avoid doing so until these are completed (most of the time), but this is not limited in the game, itself.

not sure if he got invaded before draining the water.. but after the water was drained, he was promptly able to summon me (and few other people), and got invaded plenty of times. we googled for some info, and looks like plenty of people have the same issue, that they can't summon help until the area's drained. |

The one time I EVER saw signs at New Londo Ruins was before I drained it. It was one sign, and the summon failed. I was pissed.
Besides that one time I've never seen signs at New Londo at entrance or at Four Kings. I've also never been invaded there. I've always had to do it solo. So maybe there some connection issue when it comes to the New Londo Ruins that could make it a different subject to people. Anyway, I dont see how pre-drained New Londo can make a difference between seeing signs post-drained. Having someone in your group doesn't prevent you from draining it. That's lwould be the same as not being able to summon at Anor Lando until you lower the bridge. @OP You could always get Demon's Souls instead, it's basically the same game but you will actually be able to summon eachother without much issue. So then you can experience the Souls games, while being able to play with your friend. And if you find you like Demon's you'll know Dark will be a good game for you even without being able to co-op well. Last edited by CogniVision; 01-19-2012 at 01:06 AM. |

dunno... I did New Londo Ruins at SL62 and SL95, always been able to see at least a couple of signs at beginning of the level. never paid any attention if I was able to see signs prior to draining, but I have summoned and been invaded after draining. it could very well be a connection issue, but being in New Zealand, my connection can't be any better than someone from west coast
![]() neither me nor Tosti could understand why he was only able to see signs & summon after draining... we both agreed that requirement makes no sense co-op wise. but a quick search on the internet indicates we weren't the only ones who couldn't co-op until the water was drained. strange indeed

I may be incorrect, I'm just going off my own experience and my friend's experience. From what we both understood, people can't summon until they fix the flood issue. You can be summoned, but can't do your own summoning. Maybe that's incorrect, it might well be. |

I think not being able to summon other players (or be invaded by others) until you drain the water makes sense in New Londo Ruins. After all, New Londo Ruins does not have a boss to defeat. The lower part of New Londo Ruins acts as a gateway to the place where there actually is a boss: The Abyss. Until the water has been cleared, there is no way to get to the boss gate and, thus, no objective for the host (kill the boss), phantoms (help kill the host's boss) nor the invader (kill the host before he reaches the boss gate).
Some people experiencing the same here, there and on the sister site. Mind you, I have been summoned by others even though I had not drained the water yet. But I have always been summoned to a world where the host had lowered the water level already.

but I've never helped anyone lower the water, in the few occasions I phantomed down there, it's always straight to the boss gate. I never thought much of it, but I'll surely start paying more attention whenever I help out in the Ruins
