Yeah, the demo was pretty epically terrible, which puts it right into my must-play list - it feels like one of those Damnation-style games which seems as if it was made with absolutely noble intentions and with the greatest possible ambition, and just gets everything absolutely wrong...I love games like that.
Like, take the very opening of the demo, for example, where you have to push those things towards the castle: at first, it seems like the game is going to be aiming for a real immersive experience - this is how slow and bulky warfare was during the era; but not only do you not face any actual jeopardy or experience any kind of gruelling, physical ordeal, but the two main characters just gab on and on the whole time like they're out on a date together...It was awesome! And be careful when you step out of cover to fire your crossbow! Especially on the hardest available difficulty! Because it takes for ever to reload! And if you just stand there, exposed to danger...the enemy...might...well, you know...vaguely think about...you know...maybe...possibly...returning fire at some point...or not...Epic. Absolutely epic. Anyways, I'm kind of confused about why the TC made a thread about this; I mean, does anyone actually have any expectations of this game? is the demo for this game any worse than that of many others? (for example: the recent Driver: San Francisco demo was one of the most painfully awful things I've ever played, like, painfully bad, not so-bad-it-was-fun bad, and yet - from what I understand - it's getting incredibly positive reviews). And the non-sequitur first sentence of the OP - "I love when good games are released" - is kind of weird...I mean, yeah, sure, it's great when good games are released, but a good game is very much in the eye of the beholder; or more specifically: a good time is very much in the eye of the beholder; The Cursed Crusade was truly terrible, and I wouldn't even defend it - let alone recommend it - to any other person on the planet, but I also can't wait to play it...

The demo looked and played like a hoary old PS2/Xbox game. I can't believe a company like Atlus would release something like this. The Cursed Crusader clearly was a rush job.
I'm sure there's an audience for this game somewhere but it probably will consist of Achievement/Trophy addicts and the people who love bad games. |
