I have been pretty fustrated with this game, especially as I've played a number of other FPS games in the last years (including all 3 Battlefields) and have definitely become a great FPS player. When I was playing Friday and Saturday night I was almost throwing my contoller in anger (once I did .. it needs replacing anyway!
) .. but in the end I've come to realise this is a game that needs a higher learning curve, just as the last few posts have described. Finally, last night I began to feel as though I've adjusted to the MP and was putting together some decent streaks and matches, but that definitely is in part related to levelling up my suit a lot over the weekend. However, there are still many issues I have with this game, which I hope Crytek can sort out for C3. The matchmaking is unbelieveably awful most of the time. I've seen 4 noobs plus 2 medium ranked players vs 6 players ranked level 30 and over (2 of those level 50). Thats an extreme, but it is quite common to have too many elite players on one team. Also, the hit detector sucks and melee is far too easy. If this was a better FPS game, then possibly half of my deaths never would have been. FAR too many times have I been killed by one or two shots to the arm or leg, or by a player who was't aiming at me, or my a melee from about 5 feet away (or even aiming in a different direction!). Maybe some are the fault of a killcam, but many are hard to believe. Lag is also often a severe issue for me, despite hardly ever having to deal with it on other games (MoH being another exception to that). All of these problems do take away from the enjoyment of the game, but the concept of Crysis 2 multiplayer is great .. the problem is there are too many areas which have been poorly executed.

having played the MP for about 10 days now i can say it's not bad at all but it has a steep learning curve and is very unforgiving to newcomers. one of the biggest problems with MP is terrible lag. half of my deaths are the result of "jumpy" enemies who magically teleport from one spot to another. nothing is more frustrating than aiming at someone only to get meleed by them from behind half a second later. so far i haven't seen a game where people had decent ping.

There's a glitch that players are using to melee you. They hit once, quickly change weapons, and melee again. It ends up glitching out so that you can melee twice as fast (thus killing you instantly) by the time you can even get your second swing.

Seems like I'm finally getting some decent results in this game, and all it took was levelling up some suit modules. 24-3 earlier today!!
I was so happy that I took a picture of it. ![]() Quote:

It is not that bad, I personally like it very much (if you ignore the lag and match making issues). You can't just stroll around with your "shield" aka armor mode on, it will get you killed straight away. I personally like to use the 2 modules (are those what the perks in this game are called?) that slow down your movement and stealth energy consumption drastically. That way, I can just use cloak mode 24/7 and sprint around for a much longer time in one go. Then, whenever I see a guy, I pop armor mode on and shoot them 'til they're dead. Don't use it before you enter a fire fight and don't sprint when using armor, it drains your energy very quickly. Also don't engage and enemy if you have low energy, let it recharge at least up to 50% so you have a chance of surviving the fight even if they have 100% of their energy. The biggest advantage in this game is the element of surprise and you truly have to use it well to succeed even with lots of lag. If you're lagging and your enemies always see you, you have absolutely no chance of beating them since it takes almost a second 'til your bullets are actually registered.
My weapon of choice is always the Scar, since it is just so damn good. It is versatile as it has good power, nice rate of fire, decent clip and it is very accurate. I recommend not using anything else until you're at least level 15, to get the hang of the game. |

This was one of not many games i bought right after release. Also it is one of the worst MP of all times. Good idea but connection dropping, lags and very bad damage algorithm make this game a pain. Very often you will get someone from behind, you will start shooting first and also you will be the firs one to die. Why? Well... Kill cam does not show why.
Than there is frustrating stealth kill issue, changing modes issues (like when you switch from cloak to armor mode and still your energy will drop to zero if you start to shoot..) and it's all because of connections issues (I guess). So if you do not have 1000Gb/s connection speed you will lose and lose and lose again no matter what... Although idea is great. There are many good things. Not like in CoD here you can play with all types of gun and with all of them you can win a match, because you can adjust power/armor/stealth modes... But this is nothing comparing to worst ever connectivity/lag issues.... |
