Extremely unlikely. There's never been an actual English release of any version of Clannad, unless you count the bootleg translation on the PC.

Unfortunately there's no chance of that happening. We can't even get the original PC version much less a PS3 version or any other system that it has been ported to. Sure there's the fan translations for the PC version which is for the most part the same script used in the console and handheld ports, but there will never be a proper release for America and Europe.

There are people requesting it like on the NISA forums for NISA to localize the PS3 version, but I think it's too big of a project for NISA to handle since there's so much script involved to translate. Plus NISA always seems to like to include English dub voiceovers with the original Japanese voices, so that can be pretty expensive. (Of course, I think if NISA wants to see some profit from this or even at least break even, they should just make it Japanese voices only even though I do like their English dubs).

Is it possible to obtain the Clannad platinum even though you don't understand Japanese?
How much of a struggle is it in that case?

If you use me and technole's guide, it's a walk in the park, with or without Japanese comprehension skills.

Dude, major .

Clannad is, at least in my opinion, one of the greatest stories ever told throughout all forms of media... books, movies, video games, you name it. Its character-development, music and writing are all second-to-none. The only other story I hold in as high of a regard as Clannad is 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~, but compared to the former, it is extremely inaccessible and requires an enormous level of Japanese comprehension skill in order to fully appreciate.

If you haven't seen the Clannad anime, that would be a good place to start. It's available in English.

I agree, CLANNAD is my favorite anime and visual novel, and it stands among the best stories ever told. While we did the guide in the sense to help trophy hunters who understand little to no Japanese, I also believe one might be doing themselves a disservice by not fully taking in the fabulous story. Some examples include the heart-pulling vacation moments. Like Aeliana, mad for that comment. Do check out the anime though!

That's the way I feel about most visual novels. I play it for the story, not for the trophies(even though getting trophies in the process is a nice bonus).

The menus is not the problem, it's the translating the entire game into English as well as the DLC episodes that can cost quite a large amount of money with obtaining the license to localize it costs. This is why my suggestion is for NISA or whoever does try to localize it to just least it as Japanese voices only unless they feel that there will be enough sales to cover the hiring an English dub cast like the ones used in the anime from Texas.

While it is true that the main character, Tomoya is not voiced in the visual novel as well as the dreams he has of a girl and this robot made from junk are all alone in this another world. So that could help out a little bit on the costs, but even so there's literally lots of story to translate.

I keep hearing something about Key/Visual Arts not wanting their visual novels to reach outside of Japan(even though that's pretty stupid since we have the anime versions of Air, Kanon, Clannad, and Angel Beats).
