Normally, he won't have the time to attack.
Yeah that probably would've worked, didn't buy Ultimate Shadow until a little later, and after that all I used was Ultimate Light and Ultimate Shadow

I did all my trials on Paladin difficulty so if I changed the difficulty I would probably have had a much easier time but the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment was much better this way. Here are my Top 3.

1) Underground Caves - Spider Venom: This trial gave me a lot of problems because I had to alternate between getting poisoned with getting a lot of damage from one hit and using light magic just to heal and damage enough but not kill enemies while not poisoned. I think it took me 7 attempts before I got it.

2) Abbey Tower - Light Mirror Puzzle: Was not too bad once I saw some youtube videos on how to do it, but I was struggling with this one on my own.

3) Chromatic Observatory - Kill the 10 toys using normal hits: This gave me quite a bit of problems on Paladin. You cannot jump too much because of their needles and threads and they tend to ground pound a lot. I kept dying because within a few hits you would die. So my strategy was to use a Dark Crystal to get 3 kills right off the start, then using Ultimate Shadow and Holy Water when they were crowded together to maximize my damage per hit. If I got injured I would use ultimate light to maim and kill some more.

The Titans were all relatively easy, even the Dragolich I completed the trials within 4 attempts. The Ogre was not bad, if I got hit I used restarted from the last checkpoint and completed that on my first attempt (well with 2 restart from last checkpoint). I think I was very lucky for the Vampire Wargame because I only lost 3 pieces on the two times I played it. When I first read this thread I would have thought that I would put the Music Box as one of the top 5 but on the Paladin run the solution map came in very handy and I knew what I was doing instead of trial and error.

I have completed all the trials, these are the ones I found to be the most challenging/annoying:
1) Ogre (not taking any damage)
2) Wargame (do not lose more than 3 pieces)
3) 2nd Vampire Guard (maintain focus for 60 seconds)

The Ogre one took me a couple of tries only because I kept doing well and then trying to rush through it. Learn the pattern and take advantage of the ability to sprint.

The Wargame only because it is solely based upon luck of the draw. I, like others, am very good at chess so I thought this would be a cakewalk. But thanks to the random piece generator, it made it a bit tougher. Just take out the "Wizard/Necromaster" first, followed by the lycans and then the vampire warriors.

I learned his pattern, so I knew what attacks where coming and what to do to counter them. I didn't realize that I only had to attack once every 8 seconds to keep the focus counter going.

After reading some comments and the Platinum difficulty rating thread I was expecting a tough challenge, but after doing them I would say that none of these trials were really hard (the god of war challenges are harder imo). It only took me 3-4 tries to handle the hardest ones.

My top 3 would be :

She gets more turns the more pieces she loses. But you get an equal amount of turns as well.

The trick is to disable her. Knock out 2 knights, or vampires, or necros. Not just one. Sometimes she gets really unlucky and 2 or even 3 of her draws land on the knocked out parts.

Toughest challenge for me as of date is the Chapter 12 trial. It took me an HOUR to finally figure out that quickly switching magic off after attacking was the key.

The time trials are also hard. Takes a while to actually memorize every move you have to make in order to take down golems in x amount of minutes. I have yet to beat the dracolich one. . . maybe tomorrow.

Smile Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Toughest Trials

Hi Guys

I have enjoyed reading through the threads listening to everyone's experiences and opinions with regards to the trials. I have now completed all 46 trials on warrior difficulty and i have to say it was most satisfying when that gold trophy popped as some of the trials were pretty tough. Starting with the hardest and working back the way here are the five trials that i found to be the most difficult:

1. Abbey Library lights and mirror puzzle (Chapter 5 Level 4) - This trial caused me the most problems. I think i had roughly 20-25 attempts before i completed it. The poor camera angles didn't help when trying to line Gabriel up with the levers. In order to give yourself the best chance of completing this trial i would recommend starting it with a full shadow magic bar, a good supply of holy water and the ultimate light combo. The holy water takes care of the Gremlins quickly whilst a lot of shadow magic is needed to break through walls. The Ultimate Light combo also makes short work of the animated armour giving you enough time to turn the last lever.

2. Abbey Tower - Destroy 100 objects (Chapter 5 Level 5) - Again this trial was a tad frustrating. I don't know how many times i finished it destroying 99/100 objects. Eventually got the full 100 with a bit of perseverance. The holy water was great for quickly taking care of the ghouls and gremlins. Having the wings also meant that you could jump over the right hand wall in the final area rather than wasting time using the lever to open the gate.

3. Mountain Fortress - Don't get hit by any of the Ogre attacks (Chapter 4 Level 1) - I also found this one quite tough albeit the checkpoints did make things a bit easier. I used the crystal on his hands for the first section of the battle. With regards to the second part, it was just a case of persaverance. When he lifts his right hand you have to roll to your right and vice versa when he lifts his left hand. When he uses both hands together roll back the way and jump. It takes a while to get the timing perfected.

4. Electric Labratory - Mechanical Monstrosity (Chapter 7 Level 2) - This one was a real pain mainly due to the dreadful camera angles. It was also tricky trying to get the mechanical monstosity to stop right on the middle of the coil. I found the best method was to stand on the far side of the coil furthest away from the switch on the ground and bait the spider to attack you with his electrical attack. If you are quick enough you can jump over him with the wings and run straight for the switch. If timed correctly you should have enough time to hit the switch whilst he is still in the middle of the coil recovering from missing his electrical charge attack.

5. Sanctuary Of The Titans - Stone Titan (Chapter 2 Level 8) - I actually did this trial on my second attempt with one second remaining on the clock. Although i didn't have to much difficulty with it i still accept that it's a tough trial as there is literally no room for error. You really have to memorise the route and you must use the x button to side jump across horizontal ledges in order to speed up the process. You can also let go of the R2 button a bit earlier on certain occasions (When Gabriel has gripped both hands back on the ledge) even though it still comes up on the screen saying hold R2. In my opinion the Stone Titan was the toughest of the three titans. I completed the Ice Titan with 8 seconds to go and the Dracolith with 16 seconds to go. The Dracolith was the easiest of the three for me because he couldn't actually do anything to cause any damage to Gabriel. It was just a case of memorising the route and remembering to press R2 at the correct times.

Well i hope everyone still playing the trials find my comments helpful. I really enjoyed the game. Just hope they sort the camera situation out if they make a sequel. Cheers.
