a mod could have just merged the threads?

Story:Great, they did a good job introducing new characters into the story. The also wrapped up the main story arc which began in CoD4 in fine fashion if you are a fan of these games you will love the campain mode.

Gameplay:The standard affair for CoD everything works as it shoud with little or not issues at all.

Controls:CoD controlls have become the industry standard for shooters.

Graphics:Despite the old engine the game still manages to look pretty darn good. Of course its not as pretty as Crysis 2, Killzone 3 and Battlefield 3 but its right behind them.

Sound:Sound isnt bad but this has always been CoD's shortcoming.

Wow Factor:This franchise invented modern wow factor and of course this doesnt disapoint. Its filled with the usual explosive and tenuous moments if you love the franchise its all there.

Replay Value:Replay hell yes especially with the new survival mode in spec ops, then of course there is multiplayer which remains the genre leader. People will be playing this for years to come as they do with the previous games in the series.

Multiplayer Experience:Genre best multiplayer returns with new features and game types for all experience levels.

Rent Or Buy This Game?If you are only in it for the story of course this is a rental but if your bread and butter is multiplayer than of course this is a must buy.

Your Personal Verdict & Your Final Rating:8.5 its not as good as MW2 however its still worth the price of admission for the content and hours of entertainment you will recieve. I only hope that the game gets and engine change for upcoming titles.

Sorry for the late review. I just needed to make sure the game wasn't gonna grow on me as I spent more time with it.

Story: 6/10 CoD games have never been famous for their stories, just the spectacle. This game delivers in the set pieces (almost too much really), and the story itself is predictable from the minute you select New Game.

Gameplay: 7/10 CoD game play is still basically the industry default. It works well. Of course if you play with aim assist on, the game will be almost insultingly easy since you snap onto target so well in campaign that aiming is more or less optional. Because set pieces are so common, to the point where you can probably count the minutes between them, and the levels are so linear, the game actually feels like its on rails at times.

Controls: 10/10 CoD is and always will be the industry standard for default controls. Of course for people like me who will always think putting crouch on :circle: is stupid, there is plenty of control options to suit any body's style of play.

Graphics: 5/10 This is very subjective, but this game just doesn't look good. The graphics themselves haven't really improved from MW2, and the color palette is quite appalling. Its bad to the point where I can't play for extended periods because of the strain on my eyes.

Sound (Gameplay): 5/10 Gameplay wise, the sound is alright. You can hear footsteps, and the such that will aid your situational awareness, but its nothing exceptional. I will be blunt here, the guns sound down right pathetic. I can make a more immersion inspiring and realistic sound effect by dropping a handful of pennies on the kitchen floor.

Sound (Music): 7/10 The music itself isn't memorable, but it sets the dramatic tone to the abundance of set pieces. It gets the job done, and thats about it.

Wow Factor: 5/10 If you've played any CoD since CoD4 you won't be wowed. Improvements are minor, if you even notice them, or call them improvements. The campaign will inspire more yawn than awe if you've seen the much more dramatic and shocking set pieces of the previous MW games. This iteration just isn't fresh or original.

Replay Value: 8/10 Campaign will probably set you back a good 6 hours on veteran, and more if you want to go back through and gather intel. Spec Ops missions are good for a few one-offs with buddies. Survival is a hit or miss mode, some will love it, others (like me) find it rather boring. The real staying power is in the multiplayer, which will set avid players back until the next CoD rolls out.

Multiplayer Experience: 6/10 This game feels rather like a down grade to Treyarch's previous Black Ops to me. Mainly because certain welcome features like Dolphin Diving and the Emblem editor are gone. Maps in MW3 have to be some of the worst in the franchise between the abundance of small maps, absurd amount of camping, and generally terrible spawns. The developers really went the route of Quantity over Quality in terms of maps this time around. The diversity Strike Packages offer is nice, especially my personal favorite the Specialist package which gives you perks for kills. The Assault package is your basic "Get kills, call in killstreak, repeat," and as was the case with MW2 kills with a killstreak will count towards your next, so expect players to camp in a corner until they get their killstreaks stacked up to instant win the round. Luckily the Nuke is replaced by a MOAB which isn't an instant win button, and can only be obtained with a Gun Killstreak. Theres also the Support Package, which some will say rewards objective players, but really it rewards the casuals and noobs who can't actually get a killstreak themselves. Multiplayer isn't exactly balanced either, but it is par with MW2 in that category for what its worth.

Rent or Buy this Game?

For anyone who just isn't sure if they wanna drop the money on the game they're likely to feel like they've played before, rent the game. Play the campaign for enjoyment, and hop onto the multiplayer to see how you enjoy it. If your an annual CoD addict, then you've already bought the game.

Your Personal Verdict & Your Final Rating: Use the Poll!

Overall: 6.5/10
