Why isn't there a checkpoint between the start of the big turbine-things and how much fucking later?

You have to clear the BIG ROOM FULL OF ENEMIES, the overpass which spawns in two snipers just as you're walking through it, long hallway #1, some other turbine room thing with lots of corners for enemies to snipe from, then there's the elevator that comes up stock full of enemies with nothing but a crate to hide behind, fucking long hallway #2, then there's a stair which fucks up your angles and has 3-4-5-6-7-8 enemies coming in on you, honesly I've never made it further without dying.

This is about 1/3 of the entire fucking mission inside the dam and AT LEAST 20 enemies to kill without being hit once.

Is there a checkpoint? If so, where?

When you go down with the 2nd elevator and have more than half health, the game will save. If you get to that checkpoint, the hardest part of mission is done.

Grr. Why do you have to have at least half health in order for it to save?

It would be kinda hard to do the whole mission without any health.

The checkpoint system in this game is not flawed so don't believe what you read on these forums, the game will save and give you a checkpoint if you have enough health (basically about 3 quarters full) if the checkpoints were set you could find yourself getting one where you have virtually no health and in a tight situation and having to start the whole level again. Take your time with this game on veteran and learn where the enemies spawn and you will get platinum no problem

lol, I am feeling your pain as well - I am stuck between elevator one and two.

finally cleared this level - best advice is to go SLOW!!! and use your frags as often as possible - also when you get the checkpoint after going down in the first elevator and just before you enter the room looking down on the turbines - clear the left side but then go back and go to the right - that way is much easier and as long as you have about 75% or 80% health it will give you a checkpoint just after you go down the second elevator but be ready as soon as the elevator stops you will be ambushed. From that point it is somewhat doable but still a bitch but there are checkpoints along the way that will ease the pain. Once you take out the guns down below then you have to go back through, lol! It was easier but still no cake walk. Anyway, good luck.

My advice is to NOT clear the left side. Just rush through the right. In the 2nd hall shoot the snipers. It's not that hard really. Ship is a lot harder.

Went down second elevator with 100% health, cleared out the next four enemies, went a few more rooms later, died, but I had to start back way, way back. Checkpoint didn't register for me...

Yep , the part was a bitch LOL. Almost made me give up the game.
