So about a month ago I was doing "free offers"
to earn something or another on some site. One of the offers was entering a poetry contest. Yesterday, I got notice via letter that I'm a semi-finalist and in the running to win the $1,000 grand prize! Also, my submitted poem is getting published in a book, Stars In Our Hearts, which is due for publication June 2012. Has anyone else been published via one of the World Poetry Movement's contests? If so, were you as psyched as I am when you received the letter? If anyone wishes to give their opinion on the lyrics that will be being published, click here.

I've been writing poetry for a little over 10 years now and have made it a hobby of mine to view the words of others. The poetry that a person writes can open more windows to their soul then just about anything, as I've learned that you can't lie in poetry. It always has to be from the heart and how you feel or you can't write it properly, something my wife and I learned from each other.
Viewing 'Coming Out' through the DeviantArt link you posted was a very nice experience. It's good to see that you're publishing your work and I really liked the writing technique you used in your poem. You were telling a story outside of just piecing random rhymes together to make it sound good and that's what makes any writing stand out. I'm sure that you'll be able to become a standout poet if that's what you were trying to achieve, as long as you still have words to put down on paper. |

For example: In my poem "Coming Out" I directed it as if I were talking to one person, saying "I can tell anyone but you", when in reality I've been walked away from so many times due to my sexual orientation that every person whom the topic comes up with is nerve-wrecking. I really appreciate the comments you've made on my writing, thank you so much. Anytime someone enjoys reading something of mine, it brightens my day. c: Thanks!
