I usually beat the white knight with about 5 or 6 hp left and can NOT for the life of me complete (what I think) is the last part with the spinning maze. I hit the button three times but that hugging guy always grabs me or the fireballs hit me prior to getting my slash attack off to kill him.

Any tips?

Just use magic & clear the rest & kill hugger last.

What magic attack can I use to hit the enemy who spits fire across the stage without getting caught by the hugger?

When you see the spearman go above him or hug the edges the magic is really surprising as it reaches really low and high heights off the screens.

I used charge slashes to kill the knight through the wall. Hit the hugger with a single jumping down stab and he'll run to the opposite side of the screen. After that I cast a spell and used the invincibility to get behind the fire spitting head where all the enemies could be easily dispatched. I'm pretty sure that is not the best way for completion, but it worked.
