Press O to decline the update. If updated , delete the 5GB space of Bioshock that was installed to the HDD . Then , decline the update and reinstall Bioshock .

In my opinion this takes away the feeling that you have actually achieved something, which is for me the main purpose of collecting trophies but whatever floats your boat I quess.
I managed to beat the game on survivor legit this morning, even though I got the game almost 2 years ago felt good to get the platinum even after all that time I had pushed it forward since I thought it would be hard, but to be honest the game was not hard on survivor even though at times I had to think what is the best way to proceed and so on.

I already ran through on easy to get most of the trophies then looked here to find the diaries I missed found them. Then just because BioShock 2 will be here soon I deleted the game data (no update) and tried for the glitch. Tried for over an hour and couldn't get the glitch to work. So my advice is to just do it the hard way. don't waste your time on this glitch.

I can confirm that this glitch works. I did it on my first attempt. If you aren't getting the glitch to work, then I hate to tell you that you are doing it wrong. I'll break it down even simpler for everyone.

Here is how I did the glitch:
1. Deleted the game save AND game data
2. start bioshock
3. decline update
4. start a new game on easy and go to option and disable vita chambers
5. play through the game on easy (should take only a few hours)
6. When you get to Atlas, go ahead and beat him (taking the first 3 of 4 adam from him)
7. When you get ready to take the fourth (final) adam from him be ready to pause the game
8. Right as the adam has been drained, he will push you away
9. Right exactly as he pushes you, pause the game and change to survivor
10. cinematics will start and give it a few seconds and trophies will start popping up

Yes it true! it does work. just between the punch and the cut-scene the screen will go white for a fraction of a second. pause it on here and follow the directions closely(in OP's first post)...it might take several tries at first, but it definetly works ;)
