Btw I liked what they did on the level after Fontaine Futuristics. (I won't spoil it for anyone who hasnt played Bioshock 2)
They don't change in the char select screen but if you see a dead high level splicer go over and look at their face, help it they wear the bucket. They should be disgusting looking.

I have to agree, Bioshock 2 was in my opinion better than the first, I loved the online.

This is tough because the first once was so different at the time that it really had an impact when I first played it.

Bioshock 2 is very similar in the fact that it's sort of the same game (gameplay wise I mean) but I thought they did a great job of improving the game and adding new sequences. Like going outside in water... and the spoiler one toward the very end I won't mention.

The story is also defined really well because your character has a purpose and not just an exploration story like the first one was. Don't get me wrong... both are great but after I watched the ending of Bioshock 2, I was actually really happy with the game as a whole.

But F Multiplayer... who cares about that anyway. The only reason I may play is for posterity and being able to tell people I got the platinum.

Altogether... I loved both but I think Bioshock 2 wins (just by a little)

Both are great but the original edges it for me, sure the combat is less intuitive & the endings a touch dissapointing but the overall story & atmosphere make up for it.

I also vote for 1 over 2. The second was a massive dissapointment for me, it really was. Didn't feel anywhere near as good as the first and thought the story in the second got a tiny bit boring, wheras towards the end of the first with the whole 'revelation' I was on the edge of my seat.

TBH i've listed Bioshock 2 as one of the dissapointments of 2010 :/ (Personal opinion)

If I had to rate...

BioShock: 9.5 / 10 - Awesome story, solid gameplay, incredible world, good graphics...

BioShock 2: 8.2 / 10 - Boring story, fine gameplay, pretty bad graphics, generic multiplayer, main character...

I can't believe how boring BioShock 2 is. The first game was absolutely fantastic, one of my favourite games of all time and it really deserved all the praise and GOTY awards. But BS2 is just... well, they shouldn't have make it. I haven't even finished the singeplayer (I should probably force myself through it one day...), and that far, it has been incredibly boring. Sofia Lamb, blahblah, "We will rise again", blahblah... I couldn't care less. Also, playing as a helpless human was much more satisfying than playing as a dual-wielding Big Daddy. BS1 was survivaling through the game (at least on the hardest difficulty), now it's just owning everyone on your way with your big guns (except Big Sisters are though). Multiplayer is pretty much fun but it's not that innovative and I got bored pretty quickly. Also, there wasn't much players at least when I played it.

When BioShock 2 was about to be released, I bought BioShock 1 for the PS3 (I already owned it on PC but never played it through) and said myself, "let's speedrun through the game before BS2 gets released". What happened, well, it was that good, that I didn't just speedrun thrugh it, BS2 got released and I was still playing it happily. I finished the game when I already had BS2 on my bookshelf. I tried BS2, played 2 chapters, got bored, and got back to BS1, collecting trophies. Now I've finished BS1 twice on PS3, and I still feel like I should go through it one more time, on Survivalist difficulty, and would still not get bored, unlike with BS2. I haven't touched it in a long time...

That's my "review" on these things.

BioShock > BioShock 2

EDIT: 0.2 point on BioShock 2 score comes just purely because of the fact that it is still BioShock, and it is a sequel to this masterpiece. Otherwise it would be like 8.0.

I wouldn't call the multiplayer generic, but it definitely gives off a rushed feel to me. There's no protocols for different maps. As far as I've seen, it requires every single player to veto a map. There is nothing stopping rank 50 rebirthed players from playing against a team of rank 1s.

Add to that the absurd pricing for the DLC, along with them admitting it was already on the disc. Bioware at least had the common sense to not leave it there when they released first-week DLC on Dragon Age.

On one hand, the grind isn't that bad (up to 40 anyway), and it's at least halfway enjoyable at times. Ranking up in Red Read Redemption is completely tedious and thankfully, most games do not have trophies for hitting the top rank (imagine Uncharted 2 with all MP required for platinum). While most games nowadays seem to be tacking on MP just for the hell of it, it worked okay here. Just okay, not good, not great.

One small problem I had with the game was that the first games saved a screenshot when you did but now its just the logo...which is irritating to me. Its not so bad later on but I got really peeved on hard mode when splicers would spawn out of thin air from a hallway I'd just left. One other small thing that still pisses me off on the hardest modes is a lack of the autosave feature on different level sections but I suppose if I played on the easiest setting, I'd beat the game in one sitting. If it weren't for cranking the difficulty up, it would be short and boring thrashing around like a Big D with sock puppets to knock over.

Bioshock 1 way better than this crap. Bioshock 2 did have it's moments though like the Siren Alley flood.
