Glitched trophies: Mother Goose.
Do cheats disable trophies? N/A
Does difficulty affect trophies? Yes, "Against All Odds" trophy can only be achieved in Hard mode.

Once again we return to the magnificent underwater city of Rapture. However, a lot has changed over the last "10 years". For example, this time around, there is no ‘Survivor’ mode and though there is plenty of room for exploration, the story is pretty linear. Also, finishing the game without using Vita-Chambers has a separate trophy so you can use them on hard yet finish the game in another playthrough on easy without using them. By and large single player in BioShock 2 is a lot easier than in the original BioShock. On the other hand, however, BioShock 2 has no backtracking (no Bathysphere) and no 'Chapter Select.' As such, anything you forget in the last level will be left there forever (so.. lots of missable trophies!). What has also changed is how hacking and researching work. In this game, hacking is done through ‘tuning’ a wavering pin on a screen and landing the pin on green bars. As for researching, you will not photograph, but film. You pick a target and film him ‘in action,’ while attacking to get points for your research. Lucky for you, you don’t need to buy film as the film in your camera is infinite! (see "Research Master").

As for collectibles, though there is no backtracking, the trophy requires a max of 100 audio diaries, and there are definitely way more than that to go around (see "Rapture Historian"). Even better, though there are lots of Tonics in BioShock 2 as well, there is NO trophy requiring collecting any Tonics at all!

There is also a new, prototype feature for BioShock – online multiplayer. It takes place a year before the main events of BioShock 1, in the form of a civil war. You start out at your apartment, which is the MP’s ‘lobby,’ and once ready, you proceed to the Bathysphere to go down and fight. However, the MP is laid out in a way where it is difficult (but not impossible!) to boost, so expect a lot of work on your own.

That said, let’s look at the steps:

Step 1: Easy playthrough + collectibles.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you play on Easy first. If you want to go ahead and play Hard, you still have to do the following instructions but skip Step 2. (Trophy-wise, there is no difference between finishing the game on Easy or Normal, just Hard mode, which is a different story).

In this step, you are becoming acquainted with Rapture. Again, it is recommended to have the settings on Easy because you are aiming to have a seamless, fun playthrough, get collectibles easily and in addition any ‘cumulative’ trophy you may need, including --most importantly-- kill-based trophies, as the villains would be easier to kill on Easy. In this playthrough you should:
  1. First and foremost, disable Vita-Chambers, do NOT use them (press → ‘Options’ → ‘Disable Vita-Chambers: On’) and rely on multiple manual saves.
    • See: "Big Brass Balls."
  2. Collect 100 audio diaries.
    • See: "Rapture Historian."
  3. Adopt every Little Sister, gather ADAM then rescue them.
    • See: "Dealt with Every Little Sister" and "Master Gatherer."
  4. In addition to rescuing all the Little Sisters, SPARE the lives of all three living characters you'll encounter.
    • See: "Savior" if you DO NOT mind spoilers!
  5. Purchase four Plasmid slots, find all Plasmids and fully upgrade at least one of them.
    • See: "Fully Upgraded a Plasmid," "All Plasmids" and "Max Plasmid Slots."
  6. Research every villain the minute you get the camera.
    • See: "Research Master"
  7. Get all 14 weapon upgrades.
    • See: "All Weapon Upgrades.."
Note on Missable Trophies: As mentioned in the Overview, since there is no backtracking nor "Chapter Select," there are a lot of missable trophies. That said:
  • If you follow these steps above (check the descriptions of the trophies mentioned!), you are bound to get 12 out of the 18 missable trophies.
    • Some of the trophies mentioned in the steps also have other trophies for 'partial' completion. For example, "Research Master requires fully researching all villains, when you fully research one, you'll get "One Research Track" trophy.
  • Also, in addition to "Big Brass Balls," if you have Vita-Chambers disabled (as I instructed), you're also bound to get "Unbreakable" and "Grand Daddy" trophies.
  • The remaining are: "9-Irony," "Counterattack," "Master Protector" and "Look at You, Hacker." Check their descriptions to see how to achieve them.
  • Just in case, make a separate save for the beginning of each level in case a trophy can be (easily) achieved only in a particular level. In other words, make it your ‘Chapter Select.’
  • Every trophy behind a 'spoiler tag' is plot-based and, thus, cannot be missed, with the exception of "Savior."

Step 2: Hard playthrough

In this step, you will focus mostly on finishing the game on Hard. Having already played the game and become acquainted with Rapture, playing Hard mode will be a lot easier. Also, in this playthrough you’ll be able to catch up on any trophies you missed in your previous playthrough. To make it easier (if you’ve gotten the pertinent trophies), enable Vita-Chambers, harvest little sisters when you need them only, avoid unnecessary confrontations with Big Daddy and just try to finish it as quickly as possible. In other words, make this your 'speedrun.'

A big mistake would be to treat BioShock 2 as a 'shooter, hit-and-run' game. It is not, and nothing proves that more than Hard mode. You need to be punctilious, tactical and, above all, stingy with your supplies and ammo.

If you want to "cheap out," there is a glitch for infinite health, which is possible from Siren Alley onwards, only. Since multiple factors can 'disable' the glitch, I suggest you get all possible trophies in your first playthrough on Easy first, since this way nothing would disable the glitch. (See "Against All Odds" for more info).

By this point, you should have gotten most, if not all, offline trophies, but don’t give off a sigh of relief yet; the worst is yet to come, here’s..

Step 3: Online trophies

This doesn’t necessarily have to be your “third step," you can just play intermittently whenever you want.

What you should be aiming for in this step is getting the "Choose the Impossible" trophy, which is Rank 40. As you reach for that rank you will play on various maps and in various play modes so there is a VERY high possibility of getting all the online trophies 'en route.'

Reaching Rank 40 should take anywhere from 15 to 30 hours of gameplay, depending on your skills.

Also, all the online trophies are easy, except for "Mother Goose," which is reported to be glitchy. It is frustrating to get as it is, yet on top of that you may have to do it a few times for this trophy to pop.

Check the online trophies in this guide for more details.

If you need an extensive, thorough explanation of how multiplayer works in BioShock 2, check out Pvt Rain and F8L Fool's "BioShock 2 Online Multiplayer Guide" here.

Bought a Slot
Bought one Plasmid or Tonic Slot at a Gatherer’s Garden.
See "Max Plasmid Slots."

Max Plasmid Slots
Fully upgraded to the max number of Plasmid slots.
There are up to eight plasmid slots. When you start the game, you'll have three slots. You purchase four more from the Gatherer's Garden. The last one you will unlock by the end of the game (the last slot can't be missed, don't worry about it).

Upgraded a Weapon
Upgraded a Weapon at a Power to the People Station.
See "All Weapon Upgrades."

Fully Upgraded a Weapon
Installed the third upgrade to a weapon.
See "All Weapon Upgrades."

All Weapon Upgrades
Found Every Power to the People weapon upgrade in the game.
'Power to the People' machines are the stations you upgrade from. Each one allocates one upgrade only. There are 14 PTTP for 14 upgrades; 2 in Ryan Amusements, 3 in Pauper's Drop, 2 in Siren Alley, 2 in Dionysus Park, 2 in Fontaine Futuristics, 1 in Inner Persephone, 2 in Persephone Outer.

Also, you should note that this is a misnomer, there are 18 possible upgrades, but only 14 PTTP stations. Just find the stations and this trophy is yours.

Click here for a more detailed guide.

Distance Hacker
Used the Hack Tool to hack an object at a distance.
See "Master Hacker."

Prolific Hacker
Hacked one of each kind of machinery.
Again, another easy one. There are eight different machines: First Aid stations, Circus of Value, El Ammo Bandito, Security Cameras, Turrets, Security Bots, Safes and Door Locks. Hack each one at least once and you'll get this trophy.

Master Hacker
Hacked 30 machines at a distance with the Hack Tool.
One of the new features in the game is distant hacking. There is a gun-like tool called 'Hack Tool.' When you fire it at a machine of any kind, you'll be able to hack it from a distance. Do it for 30 machines and the trophy is yours.

An easy way to do this would be to stand under an unhacked Security camera, wait for the bots to come then hack them with the Hack Tool, rinse and repeat until you get the trophy (though it is easy to get the trophy without doing that anyway).

First Research
Researched a Splicer with the Research Camera.
See “Research Master.”

One Research Track
Maxed out one Research Track.
See “Research Master.”

Research Master
Completed all research on every subject in Rapture.
When you get the Camera in Pauper's Drop, you will ‘research’ your subjects by filming them, attacking them and killing them. Each KIND of villain (Leadhead Splicer, Brute Splicer.. etc) gets a separate category. The better the research (more action during filming), the higher the score and the faster the track fills. For each villain there are four ‘levels' of Research (can be tracked in the main menu (press ). Each villain get has own 'Track.') Fill them out to the max for each villain. Also, use your camera the minute you get it, as some villains may not appear in later levels. Though not necessary, you may want to equip any Research-specific Tonic you may find, as it will facilitate your research. Here is a list of villains (as they appear in the Research menu):
  • Thuggish Splicer: These are the Splicers who attack you with melee weapons. Incidentally, these are the rarest Splicers. Once you get the camera, research the hell out of them as they will no longer appear in later levels.
  • Leadhead Splicer: These are the 'generic' Splicers. They carry guns and sometimes throw bombs. There is enough of them to go around though, and will appear all throughout the game.
  • Houdini Splicer: These are the Splicers that 'teleport' from a point to another as they attack you. They will hurl fireballs at you as their weapon. They appear first in Dionysis Park and will remain throughout the game.
  • Spider Splicers: These are the Splicers that crawl on ceilings. They throw hooks at you as their weapon. They will remain appearing up until, and including, Dionysus Park.
  • Big Daddy: These are the big, fat villains that protect the Little Sisters. They first appear in Ryan Amusements and remain until and including Fontaine Futuristics. In this game, however, there is NO distinctions between the Big Daddies (Rosie, Rumbler... etc) when it comes to Research.
  • Big Sister: The infamous new villain of the game. Every three times you 'deal' with a Little Sister, they will appear. Also, there will be two more in the penultimate level. How you'll want to do this is deal with every Little Sister you find. Fight every Big Sister, hit them a few times then start filming. You need to film and then hit them till they die. Otherwise, if you film from the very beginning, you might not be able to kill them 'in time,' and this get a low score. There aren't that many Big Sisters so take advantage of every encounter you make with them.
  • Security: 'Security' here constitutes Security Cameras, Security Bots and Turrets (no distinctions). The easiest way to get this research is to stand in front of an unhacked Security Camera, trigger the Bots to come, film and attack. Rinse and repeat until their research bar is full.
  • Brute Splicer: These are the 'fat' Splicers. They appear around the beginning of the game, and usually attack you with melee or hurl objects at you. They appear for a few levels after you get the camera. There will be a lot of them in the last two levels, too, so plenty of opportunity to research them.
  • Alpha Series: These are a 'skinnier' version of Big Daddy, but still powerful, they will use their various weapons against you, and sometimes attack you physically. They first appear in Fontaine Futuristics and continue to appear for the remainder of the game.

Grand Daddy
Defeated 3 Big Daddies without dying during the fight.
If you’re playing this on easy (as I recommended) this one will be REALLY easy to get. Also, if you’re not using Vita-Chambers, you’ll get this after killing your third Big Daddy. If you’re going to ‘deal’ with every little sister, this trophy is virtually unmissable.

Adopted a Little Sister
Adopted a new Little Sister for the First Time.
You can’t miss this one. You’ll be asked by Sinclair to adopt one in Ryan Amusements.

Master Gatherer
Gathered 600 ADAM with Little Sisters
There are various ways to get ADAM. However, this particular trophy requires 600 ADAM that you remove from bodies with the help of Little Sisters. It does not matter how much ADAM you have; for this trophy, 600 ADAM should be total amount of ADAM removed from dead corpses by the Little Sisters. If you're aiming for the 'Dealt with Every Little Sister,' make sure you let the Little Sisters perform 2 Gathers each. You'll get this just before the last roaming Little Sister in the game so the opportunity window is very limited.

Fully Upgraded a Plasmid
Fully upgraded one Plasmid to the Level 3 version.
Whenever you get a new Plasmid, either purchasing or getting them from Eleanor, you'll be able to purchase 'upgraded' versions of these Plasmids at the Gatherer's Gardens. Trophy-wise, you only have to fully upgrade ONE Plasmid only.

All Plasmids
Found or purchased all 11 Plasmid types
You’ll get the Plasmids either from ones you find left behind by Eleanor, or the ones you buy from the Gatherer’s Garden, more will appear at the GG as you progress. The Plasmids are (in no particular order (except the last one)): Incinerate, Telekinesis, Hypnotize, Security Command, Decoy, Electro Bolt, Insect Swarm, Winter Blast, Cyclone Trap, Scout and, finally, an unmissable, story-based one you get towards the end.

Unbreakable
Defended yourself against the Big Sister without dying.
This is a secret trophy. You’ll get this from after you kill Big Sister without dying. This is extremely easy to achieve on Easy. They will come after you deal with three Little Sisters everytime. If Vita-Chambers is disabled, you can’t miss this trophy. Big Sisters will come around every time you deal with three Little Sisters.

Look at You, Hacker
Killed 50 enemies using only hacked Security.
This may take a while and require some farming. Once you hack any Security machine (Turrets, Security Cameras and Security Bots) they will be friendly to you and attack Splicers. Make sure you hack each one you find to make this trophy easier. Also, in addition, the best place to farm this is in the Imago Fine Arts Room in Dionysus Park. There are tons of Security there that you can hack. Also, if you perform a Gather there, more Splicers will come.

However, another, easier way to get this is to use Security Command (lvl. 2 or 3) Plasmid, hold L2 and hurl it at various Splicers. A Security Bot will be summoned automatically and will come and try to kill them.

Don't rely on one method; do both to make sure you get enough Security kills before the end of the game.

Trap Master
Killed 30 enemies using only Traps.
This one is extremely easy to get. There are various forms of 'Trap.' One of the first weapons you get is a Rivet gun. One of the special bullets is a Trap Rivet that you can use. You don’t have to fire them onto the floor and wait for a Splicer to pass. You can just fire a few at the Splicers themselves and they’ll die in a few seconds. Kill 30 enemies using this method and the trophy is yours.

Other types of Trap include Proximity Bombs and the Cyclone Trap Plasmid.

Counterattack
Killed an enemy with its own projectile.
Another secret trophy (Thanks to duck360 for providing the name and description of this trophy). This one is easy, just like the name says, whatever a villain throws at you, grab it with telekinesis and throw it back. An easy enemy to do this against is Leadhead Splicers. After a few gunshots, they will hurl a bomb at you. Grab it with telekinesis and throw it back, killing him with it. The trophy will pop shortly after

Master Protector
Got through a Gather with no damage and no one getting to the Little Sister.
This one is a tricky one. A ‘Gather’ is when you use an adopted Little Sister to gather ADAM. When you adopt her, she’ll be on your shoulder. Press and hold to let her lead you to a corpse with ADAM. Once you find one, from the minute you put her on the floor to let her gather ADAM until she is done and you pick her up is a ‘Gather.’ However, the second a Gather starts, a bunch of Splicers will appear. Now, to get this trophy make sure you’re at a vantage point, with hacked Security Machine near you. Also, I recommend using the Decoy Plasmid to distract Splicers as the Little Sister gathers the ADAM, in addition set up any traps you can (Trap Rivets, or Proximity Bombs and Mini-Turrets if you have them). Once done, immediately pick her up again and the trophy is yours.

Make sure you save before you perform a Gather. In case you get hit, just reload the save. This may take a few attempts.

Here is a video showing how it's done:

Big Spender
Spend 2000 dollars at Vending Machines.
If you’re playing this on Easy, you’ll run into a LOT of money. You’ll be able to get this trophy way before the end of the game. Otherwise, good luck! But if you’re playing on hard, you’ll probably buy lots of supplies from the Circus of Value or El Ammo Bandito so you’ll probably get this trophy, too.

Dealt with Every Little Sister
Dealt with every Little Sister.
‘Dealing’ here constitutes either rescuing or harvesting little sisters. I HIGHLY recommend that you first adopt, let them gather ADAM then rescue them. To know how many sisters are in a given level, press . At the bottom of the menu are a few icons of Little Sisters with Big Daddies. Upon rescuing them, the icon turns into a face of a little girl.

There are 1-3 Little Sisters in each level starting from Ryan Amusements and up to, and including, Fontaine Futuristics.

Against All Odds
Finished the game on the hardest difficulty level.
Pretty straight forward. Hard is slightly harder than normal but A LOT easier than BioShock 1’s Survivor mode. It can be frustrating at times, though. Just enable Vita-Chamber, be stingy with your supplies, finish the game as quick as possible (assuming you've got all the other offline trophies) and voila, you're set.

To make it even easier, there is a 'glitch' for infinite health. In the Siren Alley level, you can find the "Scout" Plasmid. Just equip the Scout plasmid, use it at a Gene Bank and IMMEDIATLY press X. Then replace Scout for any other Plasmid and back out. If a 'ghost' image appears just before you make the switch, it means it worked. Thanks to findaway (How proper!) for the tip

Savior
Saved every Little Sister and spared Grace, Stanley and Gil.

Spoiler! (click here to reveal)

Big Brass Balls
Finish the game without using Vita-Chambers.
Vita-Chambers are ‘checkpoints’ you respawn from every time you die. When you first start the game, press ‘start,’ and under ‘Options’ disable the Vita-Chambers. Rely, instead, on multiple saves.

It doesn't matter what difficulty you disable Vita-Chambers in; it only matters that you play a playthrough without using them.

If you have forgotten to turn them off, don't worry, so long as you have not used them (as in, respawned from them), then you're fine. (This has been confirmed by The Pirate, credit goes to him for this tip!)

Rapture Historian
Found 100 audio diaries.
This might not be as missable as it may seem. There are more than 100 audio diaries scattered throughout. Just keep a look out for them and you’ll most likely find them on your own. However, if you’re concerned, here is a list of 100+ Audio Diaries and their locations.

9-Irony
Paid your respects to the founder of Rapture.
'9-Irony' comes from the famous '9-iron' golf club, and the founder of Rapture is, of course, Andrew Ryan. When you first enter "Journey to the Surface" in Ryan Amusements, you'll see a wooden mannequin/statue of him sitting in a desk on your left. There, in a corner by the bookshelf is a golf club. Grab it with telekinesis and hit him (his head) with it. Those of you who played BioShock 1 will understand what this means

Here's a video showing how it's done:

Online Trophies:

Welcome to Rapture
Complete your first non-private match.
Easy one, you don't even have to win! Just play until the match is over and the trophy is yours

Unnatural Selection
Scored your first kill in a non-private match.
Another easy trophy. The first time you kill online, this trophy pops.

Disgusting Frankenstein
Become a Big Daddy for the first time in a non-private match.
A certain points during selected matches (namely "Survival of the Fittest" and "Civil War"), an announcement will appear about the appearance of a Big Daddy suit in the map. It's very recognisable as it will be in a "shiny/glowing gold" colour, much like any interactive object in BioShock. Though random, they usually appear in 'big areas' in the map. Once you find one, run for it and wear it. Then the trophy will pop.

"Mr. Bubbles-- No!"
Took down your first Big Daddy in a non-private match.
When someone becomes a Big Daddy, kill him and claim this trophy. This MAY be boostable. It is somewhat difficult, so make sure his health is low from other attackers before you kill him as his weapons would be powerful. (Thanks to F8L Fool for the tip)

Two-Bit Heroics
Completed your first trial in a non-private match.
Trial are certain sub-objectives/challenges that you do in multiplayer match, they will grant you ADAM as a reward. Complete one of them and this trophy is yours. You'll probably complete a random Trial without even working for it, but if you're curious, achievable Trials can be viewed in 'Statistics' in te MP menu. Here is an extensive list of various Trials if you're interested.

Mother Goose
Saved your first Little Sister in a non-private match.
In "Capture the Sister" game, when it's your team's turn to capture the Little Sister, find her, pick her up and put her in a Vent. The trophy will, then, pop.

It has been noted that this trophy is glitched. Apparently, it may take a few attempts to get it. Make sure you do it early.

Also, it's good to have a partner on your side to help out. This a frustrating trophy and you might need help with it (a few times, even!).

Parasite
Achieved Rank 10.
See "Choose the Impossible."

Little Moth
Achieved Rank 20.
See "Choose the Impossible."

Skin Job
Achieved Rank 30.
See "Choose the Impossible."

Choose the Impossible
Achieved Rank 40.
This is the highest rank in multiplayer. Naturally, as you level up, the gap between ranks become wider. The score used for this is ADAM. ADAM can be obtained through various means. However, this will take some grinding. This may be achieved in 15-30 hours of game play. Here are the ranks and scores:
  • Rank 10: 9000 ADAM.
  • Rank 20: 25500 ADAM.
  • Rank 30: 53000 ADAM.
  • Rank 40: 97000 ADAM.
On average, you'll earn 300-600 per match (in "Survival of the Fittest"), 3000-5000 ADAM per hour. Here are some tips:
  1. Research everyone.
  2. Hack every machine.
  3. Aim for killstreaks.
  4. Collect ADAM Vials (red liquid bottles)
  5. Be a Big Daddy.
  6. KILL a Big Daddy.
Realise that, you get the same amount of ADAM per kill as you get for researching a killed player (10 ADAM). The thing is that the number of kills defines your place (1st, 2nd. etc) at the end of the match, and you'll be awarded a certain amount of ADAM depending on that (200 for 1st place, the rest is defined by the total number of players).

There is, by the way, a boosting method. Simply put, the boosting method is based on taking turns hacking Turrets. You must do this "ADAM Grab" (i.e. NOT "Team ADAM Grab"!) since it has six-player only gamemode (i.e. you + 5 boosters) and it lasts for 10 mins. Each map has 2-3 turrets, so it's very possible. To make it faster, equip the "Speedy Hacker" Tonic (unlocked at Rank 24). In ideal circumstances, you can make up to 1700-1800 ADAM per match! That said, it IS a time-consuming boosting method (13-15 hours), but time will fly by quickly because you're rank up fairly quickly and everytime you rank up, there is a cutscene announcing the new weapons and Tonics/Plasmids you unlocked. Here is the detailed guide on how to boost (credits go to Tinytone for this guide!)

Proving Grounds
Won your first non-private match.
Achieve the highest score in any non-private multiplayer match, and this easy silver trophy will pop.

Another way to get this is just play any team-based game mode, and be on the winning team. (Thanks to theaface for the tip!)

Man About Town
Played at least one non-private match on each multiplayer map.
You will get this if you aim for the "Choose the Impossible" trophy. In total, there are ten maps in BioShock 2 multiplayer, mostly (heavily modified) levels from BioShock 1. They are:
  1. Arcadia,
  2. Farmer's Market,
  3. Fort Frolic,
  4. Hephaestus,
  5. Home for the Poor,
  6. Kashmir Restaurant,
  7. Medical Pavilion,
  8. Mercury Suites,
  9. Neptune's Bounty
  10. and, finally, Point Prometheus.
You actually have to play a full match in each map to get this trophy.

Platinum Trophy
Unlocked all trophies.
Once you unlock all the trophies in this game, you'll have this awesome platinum added to your collection.

Roadmap

All aboard the Rapture Metro! The first map pack for the BioShock 2 multiplayer is finally here, folks, with a new game mode, spankin' new maps and shiny new trophies, yet still with the same ol' BioShock 2 MP charm, same ol' multiplayer madness and, needless to say, same ol' headache-inducing glitches!

Included in this DLC are the new free "Kill 'Em Kindly" game mode, six new multiplayer maps and three new additional trophies, with the lattermost's being the centre of this guide.

Get ready to experience the MP craziness all over again, if you liked reaching Rank 40, this DLC will be tons of fun. If you hated it, well, good luck, because you're going to experience the ins-and-outs of it once more, and if you're not boosting, then God help you.

Like any DLC, this one comes with strings attached. There is no DLC-based search, so a great degree of luck is involved when finding matches on new maps. Further, you also have to win on each map, so a greater degree of luck and skills are involved. Finally, what's a multiplayer DLC without its own glitched trophy? That's correct - Mother Goose is back with a vengeance.

What you should be aiming for, as such, is the "Territorial" trophy, which involves winning a match on all six maps. Finding a match in a particular map is only half the trip, winning it is completely another, which is why, if you focus on this trophy, you're bound to get the other two easily seeing as this will take much of your time - in searching only. What's worse, there is no way to track which maps you've won or played, so I suggest you make and use your own checklist.

And when you reach Rank 50, you can usher in a new era, called Rebirth. This is pretty much the same as MW2's Prestige, except your leaderboard rank will also disappear. What do you get in return? A gold trophy - "Reincarnation." Pretty ideal if you're a completionist, otherwise if you want to keep your stats and weapons/Plasmids, I suggest you avoid Rebirthing at all costs (read the description for further info). Also, I advice getting the two silver trophies first before reincarnating as Rebirth resets the stats for the two Silver trophies as well.

Speaking of which, "Rebirth" has been confirmed to reset all the online trophies (it WON'T remove them if you already have the trophies). This is ideal for those who lost online trophies during the March bug. Once you rebirth, reclaim any online trophy you were missing to unlock that well-deserved platinum of yours!

One last thing to note: you do NOT need the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack! The ability to reach Rank 50 is also possible with this DLC!

Now, onto the..

Trophy List

Aqua Incognita
Play at least one non-private match on each DLC map.

This is not as straight-forward as it may seem. For starters, the problem is not playing on the new maps as much as it is actually finding a match on one of the new maps. There is no DLC-based matchmaking or search of MP games, and in order to enter a match in one of the new maps, everyone in the Lobby has to have the new DLC installed. If even one person in the Lobby doesn't have the new DLC, you're bound to play in the older maps. And even with everyone having the new DLC, the new maps are not on a separate list; they are "shuffled" into the original (random) maps rotation so, even then, a bit of luck is involved in playing the new maps.

Further, to unlock this trophy you have to have played from the beginning to the end of the match on each new map. If you're not boosting, you can marginally increase your odds in finding new maps by playing "Kill 'em Kindly" or a small multiplayer game like "ADAM Grab." If you enter a new map, it means everyone in the game has the DLC, so I suggest you stick with them as then you'll get to play in most of the new DLC maps. Don't forget to keep track of what maps you've played.

With that said, there are a total of six maps:
  1. Dionysus Park
  2. Fighting McDonagh's
  3. Fontaine Fisheries
  4. Pauper's Drop
  5. Siren Alley
  6. Smuggler's Hideout

Territorial
Win a non-private match in each of the 6 new maps.

To add insult to injury, not only are you going to slave away searching for a game on a new map (assuming you're not boosting), but you actually have to win in 1st place on each map, regardless of what gamemode it is. What's worse, this trophy is glitched so you may have to win a few more times to unlock it.

Assuming you keep a checklist, and are not boosting, in order to increase the odd you must a) NOT play in any team-based match and b) come first on every map without even a tie (i.e. by a margin from the 2nd spot). Though the win will be registered if there is a tie or your team wins, the trophy is only awarded to one person per match, which is why I suggest, after you've won on all maps but not gotten the trophy, to try and win in a non-team-based match.

If you are boosting (assuming you're doing the "ADAM Grab" boost), just proceed as is, with everyone tying in 1st place (i.e. don't touch the Little Sister). Once everyone "wins" on each map, the trophy will be awarded only to 1-2 people, mostly the host. But don't worry, your "wins" are still registered. Now, you need to actually unlock the trophy itself.

If you end up in an old map afterwards, continue boosting as usual. However, if you end up on a new map, whoever wants the trophy first (you should agree on whom) should grab the Little Sister first and hold her for the entire duration (i.e. the whole three minutes). That person will win and, if he was in 1st place on all the new maps already via boosting, he/she will be awarded with the trophy this time. Keep doing that until everyone in your boosting team gets the trophy and then you can go back to boosting as usual on both old and new maps.

Reincarnation
Use Rebirth to start again!

Pretty straight-forward, actually. "Rebirth" is the BioShock 2 equivalent of Prestige mode, where you have to reset your rank start anew from Rank 1 once you reach the highest rank. The only problem is just reaching the new level cap - Rank 50. If you've already reached that via the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack (the first DLC), then go to the main menu of multiplayer, and choose "Rebirth." If you're at Rank 40, you'll need 66,000 ADAM points to reach Rank 50. Between each Rank from 40 to 49, 6000 ADAM points are needed per rank, and from 49 to 50 - 12,000 ADAM points. Thus, the minimal total ADAM that you'll have will be 163,000 ADAM points.

However, any ADAM point you get after you reach Rank 40 (97,000) before buying either DLC will not count towards Ranks 41-50 and it be reset back to 97,000 upon levelling up from Rank 40, though your overall ADAM count will still be intact on the Leaderboard.

That said, once you reach Rank 50, Rebirth becomes an option in the multiplayer main menu. Once you choose it, the trophy will unlock. Be warned that if you choose to Rebirth, your TOTAL ADAM count will be reset (along with your Trials, weapons, Plasmids and Tonics) back to zero including your rank/place on the overall leaderboard!

If you're in this for the trophy only, then by all means, but make sure you take a conscious decision. And no, other stats will not reset (i.e. Kills, K/D ratio) so keep that in mind. Also, I suggest you do NOT rebirth until you get the Territorial trophy, because otherwise it'd be difficult as you'd lose all your weapons/Plasmids/Tonics. Not just that, Rebirth also resets the stats for the two other DLC silver trophies so get those two first before rebirthing!

If you do choose to Rebirth (hopefully after you got the Territorial and Aqua Incognita trophies!), go ahead and pray to God that there will not be any future DLC that will require reaching a high rank again!

Roadmap

(Warning! Some people have reported that they were not able to load their BioShock 2 main game saves after installing this DLC. Make sure to install the DLC once you get all the offline trophies in the main BioShock 2 game. If you have installed the DLC and are facing this problem, simply uninstall it from the Game Data on the XMB before loading the game's save. (Thanks to Trig28 for the heads up!))

Welcome to the Protector Trials!

This is the first single-player DLC in BioShock 2 – and it does not disappoint. Protector Trials DLC is based on the ADAM Gathers by the Little Sister in the original BioShock 2. You will have to fend off the hordes of Splicers and protect the Little Sister as she gathers ADAM. However, with each gather you have a preset set of weapons, Plasmids and Tonics, so you have to make do with them. At the end of the Trial, you will receive stars for completion and a grade for performance. It’s really fun to figure this out on your own, so enjoy the challenge. Remember to be tactical first and foremost! (but I provided a trophy guide anyhow in case you’re stuck!)

The Trials are separated into six different maps, and in each map there are three different Trials. In total, there are 18 Trials in this DLC (plus 6 more bonus Trials but those come later). The Trials get progressively hard as they progress, and the Gathers will become progressively longer. You will get “stars” for completion, and a “grade” for performance (A+, A, B, C and D). The first, second and third Trials of each map give you 1, 2 and 3 stars, respectively, tallying to a total of 36 Stars. As for grades, they are assigned on how much ADAM your Little Sister has gathered versus the total ADAM possible; the longer she gathers uninterrupted, the higher the multiplier will be, and thus the more ADAM she’ll get. This is also the ONLY thing you need to focus on to get a high grade (i.e. you can take as many hits as you want, but it only matters that no one touch the Little Sister – that is the sole basis for the final grade!). Also, though the higher grade is A+, you need only A on all the Trials, and just ONE A+ for the “Perfect Protector” trophy.

Simply put, the key to success is to fend off the enemies and let the Little Sister perform the Gather uninterrupted.

Once you complete the Trials, you will unlock 6 Bonus Trials, which are very easy and A LOT of fun! (See “Guardian Angel” for more info)

Lest we forget, the DLC also unlocks a few art work and concepts, both scrapped ideas and a glimpse into the next DLC. It’s a nice award for completion on top of the trophies you’ll receive.

One last thing: ALL the Trials have the difficulty preset to “Medium” under Options, and you cannot change that, so keep that in mind.

With that said, this the maps in this DLC are:
  1. The Adonis Baths
  2. Atlantic Express Train Upkeep
  3. Pauper’s Drop Market
  4. Simon Wales’ Church
  5. Folly of Dionysus
  6. Persephone Cellblock F

With all this in mind, let’s take a look at the trophies!

Trophy list

Litmus Test
Earn 6 stars in the Protector Trials

See “Trial by Fire.”

Acid Test
Earn 18 starts in the Protector Trials

See “Trial by Fire.”

Trial By Fire
Earn 36 stars in the Protector Trials

You will earn this by simply completing all the Trials. As stated, there are three Trials per map, and the first, second and third Trials give 1, 2 and 3 stars, respectively, adding up to 36 stars after the final Trial.

Enemy of the Family
Earn an A rank in all Protector Trials.

This is the trophy that you will be working hard for. Each Trial has a “grade" awarded at the end (A+, A, B, C and D). However, this trophy requires “A”, not “A+.” The grade is determined SOLELY on how much ADAM the Little Sister gathers by the end of the Trial (i.e. not how many times you get hit or what weapons you use.. etc etc). To get an A in each Trial, the Little Sister has to have gathered 80-85% of the ADAM possible. The longer she goes uninterrupted, the higher the multiplier will be and the more ADAM she’ll gather. If a Splicer grabs her, she will start screaming, the longer he grabs her, the lower the multiplier will be, so make sure to hit off any Splicer that tries to touch her.

Here are some tips:
  1. Before you start, you need to keep in mind, while you will face a wide range of enemies, only the Thuggish Splicers and Leadhead Splicers go after the Little Sister.
  2. ALWAYS start by the vending machines and destroying the Health Stations, as Splicers might go to them to regenerate health.
  3. Always stay at a vantage point near the Sister, and hit any enemy that attacks her.
  4. Study your surroundings before the Gather, and set up the Traps accordingly (if you have them), at entrances and also around the corpse the Little Sister gathers from.
  5. Some Plasmids work even better in combination with other Plasmids. So, take note of the Plasmids you’re assigned, as some can be combined (i.e. Cyclone Traps + Electro Bolt)
  6. Make sure to run to the Circus of Values and re-supply, also leaving a temporary protection for the Little Sister behind as you run (i.e. set up a trap)
  7. If the Little Sister starts screaming for help, go to her IMMEDIATELY. You will need to fend off the enemies to maintain the multiplier. Otherwise, the multiplier will decrease.
  8. Sometimes you are assigned more than one type of ammo per weapon; make sure to keep the weaker ammo for the weaker enemies and the stronger ammo for the stronger enemies.
  9. Decoy and Hypnotize are the best Plasmids there are, as they will ALMOST always distract the Splicers from the Little Sister and you.
  10. Take advantage of some of your surroundings. For example, spilled gasoline can be ignited, and water can be electrocuted, thereby maximizing the damage.
  11. Sit back and enjoy! Don’t worry if you get less than A, you can easily repeat it.
In addition, feel free to check out yazter’s Protector Trials Walkthrough here for a complete and detailed guide on each Trial!

Guardian Angel
Completely all bonus Protector Trials.

Once you complete the DLC trials, you will unlock “Bonus Trials.” There are 6 bonus Trials in this DLC (1 Trial per map), in addition the main 18 ones.

Feel like getting back at these pesky Splicers? Now’s your chance! These Trials are the most fun, as you will have access to ALL weapons and ALL Plasmids (including “Summon Eleanor!”). Not to mention, they’re also all FULLY upgraded! Even better, there is no requirement to get a high score or anything, just that you complete them.

Also, the Gene Bank will be available in the bonus Trials so grab Summon Eleanor there and let her do your job! This is a good ‘conclusion’ to the DLC, so enjoy it!

Perfect Protector
Collect 100% of the ADAM in a single Protector Trial.

For this trophy you will need to gather 100% of the ADAM (i.e. get A+) in ONE Trial only. The best place to do this is Trial #2 in the Adonis Baths. Simply set up the traps around the area, position yourself near the Little Sister, keep deploying Decoy and fend off ANY Splicer that goes for her. If a Splicer so much as TOUCHES her, you will lose 5-20 ADAM. No Splicer should even come near if you want 100%.

Alternatively, you CAN get this trophy in a bonus Trial (which unlock after you complete all the Trials). The best place is the bonus Trial in the Adonis Baths. Just set up your traps, a Mini-Turret near the corpse, go to the Gene Bank and equip Summon Eleanor. Also summon a few Security Bots with Security Command 3 Plasmid. Equip a shotgun and shoot off any enemy that comes close to the Little Sister – and voila!

Get A Bigger Bucket
Collect 50% of the ADAM available in all Protector Trials

This one is very easy, and is cumulative. All the core Trials add up to a certain maximum amount of ADAM, you need half of the ADAM in total to get this trophy. If you’re getting A’s in every Trial, you will unlock this after the first or second Trial in Simon Wales’ Church.

Roadmap

Welcome to Minerva's Den - Rapture's brain and central computing! This is the third, and indeed, the final DLC in BioShock 2. You'll be assuming the role of Sigma, a new Big Daddy, with an even newer weapon - the Ion Lance, a laser beam gun. You will be guided through the intricate maze of this DLC by C.M. Porter, a former programmer at Minerva's Den and join forces, if only via communication, to take down Reed Wahl, the antagonist. You will also know the fate of Tenenbaum after her first disappearance in the game proper, so this DLC will provide a 'closure' in some way.

The enemies are the same ol' but are more powerful this time; Leadhead Splicers use shotguns, Brute Splicers emit fire, and Security Bots fire laser and rockets. Lest we forget, you'll be introduced into the new prototype Big Daddy - the Lancer, who roams about Minerva's Den and protects the Little Sisters in their harvest.

Now, onto the trophies. There is a total of eight trophies in this DLC, four of which are missable. First thing you should note is that, like in the Overview, the difficulty does NOT affect trophies, so feel free to play on 'Easy' if you so choose. This DLC is divided into three levels - Minerva's Den, Operations and The Thinker. However, it is only in the first two levels that you need to focus on the missable trophies. Here's what you have to do (Note: this is a trophy guideline and does NOT constitute a "walkthrough"):
  1. Level #1, Minerva's Den:
This is the first level of the DLC. You should do the following before you finish the level (the level ends right when you use an elevator)
    • Deal with (either harvest or rescue) three Little Sisters (of this DLC's total of six) (See "ADAM Addict" trophy for more info).
    • Destroy the five Vacuum Bots in this level (out of this DLC's total of 10). (See "Garbage Collection" trophy for more info.)
  2. Level #2, Operations:
Make sure you do the following before you finish the level (the level ends when you unlock a vault on the east side of the map (under "Core Access" on the map).
    • Deal with the remaining three Little Sisters.
    • Destroy the remaining five Vacuum Bots.
    • Play the Spitfire computer game and score 9999 points. (See "High Score" trophy for more info).
  3. Level #3, The Thinker:
No "missable trophies" here; proceed with the level to finish the story.
As always, if you ever get stuck, press , and under "Goals" you find hints on what to do.

Other than that, there are some side quests and a few Easter Eggs that are not trophy-related. For example, you do not need to collect the audio diaries, and how you choose to Deal with the Little Sisters is completely at your discretion (though if you need ADAM, Adopt, let them Gather then Rescue). Other than that, enjoy your final trip to Rapture.

Garbage Collection
Destroy all 10 Vacuum Bots in Minerva's Den

This is a missable trophy. Vacuum Bots are medium-sized machines that are red and have a vacuuming tube on top. You will inevitably run into your first one, where Porter, via radio communication, will explain to you what it is. So don't start hunting for them until you run into the first one, where the "Optional" objectives will be added to your "Goals" and you can track how many you've destroyed. Only then should you start destroying them (via melee).

There are ten Vacuum Bots in this DLC. There are five in the first level, Minerva's Den, and the remaining five are in the second level, Operations. In the first level, you will need the Gravity Wall Plasmid to gain access to the fifth one. Make sure to destroy it before you leave the level via the elevator.

To see how many you've destroyed, press , and look under "Goals."

They are not that difficult to find, but here's a video guide anyhow (Credits go to MrSmugz for the video):

High Score
Get 9999 Points in one game of Spitfire

This is a missable trophy. You can play this game in the second level, Operations. When you're there, there is a room in the south side of the area (see the map). From the main area, turn right and go straight. Right before the doors to Reed Wahl's office (which is also labelled on the map), turn right. Past the giant machines, go through the door and up the stairs. As you reach the end of the stairs, right in front of you you'll see a giant computer screen. Approach it, and press to play the Spitfire game.

How this game works is simple. You are an "X" on the screen, and you have to shoot the "squares" with the button. The way you direct your fire is with the analog stick. Each square destroyed nets you 125 points (the bolded squares net you 250). You will have four "lives," or "rounds" (it'll say "3," but "0" is also a life). You will need to accumulate 9999 points over the course of the four rounds. Once you do, you will win the game and unlock this trophy.

Just try to get as many points and lose as least lives as possible. Avoid the incoming bullets and stay in constant motion. It may take a few tries but it is far from impossible.

Lancer Killer
Kill a Lancer Big Daddy

Though this is a "missable" trophy, you'll have to go out of your way to miss it. In this DLC, there is a new Big Daddy called Lancer. He will be recognizable with the strange helmet and the Ion Lance weapon, as he escorts the Little Sister. Destroy one and this trophy is yours. If you're going for the "ADAM Addict" trophy, this trophy is unmissable.

ADAM Addict
Resolve all the Little Sisters in Minerva's Den

This is a missable trophy. "Resolve" means pretty much dealing with Little Sisters, either by rescuing or harvesting them. Whichever decision you choose is completely at your discretion and will not affect the outcome of this trophy so long as you have dealt with all of them.

There is a total of six Little Sisters in this DLC; three in the first level, Minerva's Den, and three more in the second level, Operations. They will be identifiable on the map (as a small icon of a little girl on the map). If you're run into a Lancer who doesn't have a Little Sister with him, just continue with the game and go back to him, he should have a Little Sister with him after he picks her up from the Vent.

If you press , it will show how many Sisters there are on the bottom of the screen in the level you're in. Initially, the icons will be of a Little Sister with a Big Daddy. Once you deal with one, the icon will turn into a face of a little girl.

As in the game proper, every time you deal with three Little Sisters, a Big Sister shows up, so be prepared.
