The game has gone Platinum recently. You can pick it up some place for a tenner. Might just be a 'second wind' for the game. Another thing I've noticed recently is a new wave of noobs when playing normally.

HOWEVER

This week has been awful, you would get a free server and you would get a good 10 minutes when all of a sudden about 6 and 8 randoms just land in, this never happened before, normally you might have seen one random and asked him to leave, problem sorted.

Also i noticed when searching for a map has gotten very limited and i searched for oasis, par of the course, ghost town, crossing over all i kept getting was harvest day its been a nightmare week. Maybe im being paranoid, maybe i just got lucky the past 4 weeks but now ive come across some threads outside this forum...

The recent change to the servers that might have caused this influx of randomers that i found might be this... EA released a briefing stating this:

Over the last couple of months we have seen an enormous number of players enjoying the Beta, the Demo and finally the full release of Battlefield: Bad Company.

We believe that most of you have had plenty of time to enjoy our great Multiplayer demo, and that you will want to join our live community of Battlefield: Bad Company players already enjoying the full game.

To this end we will be shutting down the majority of the Bad Company DEMO servers and converting them to retail servers this coming Tuesday, at 00:01 PST. We encourage everyone who hasn’t yet, to go and get themselves the full version.

Some benefits of joining our live community:
- A huge community of existing Bad Company players
- More unlocks
- More awards to achieve
- Photo Mode to save your Bad Company moments
- You can join the Veterans Program!

Since we don’t want to fully cut everyone off “cold turkey” we will be leaving a small number of DEMO servers on-line.

We trust you will have great fun these last couple of days and hope to see you on the LIVE battlefield soon.

It was tuesday morning when the problem occured with us we had a huge amount of randomers just join all in the one go...

Also read somewhere that due to the demand for Battlefield 1943 they have taken servers from Bad company in order to help meet the demand for it... I really hope that this isnt the case we have been getting somewhere with our boosting and thats the way it should stay...

anyone else find out anything out of the ordinary?
it seems to be better if u have an odd number of players from my experiences last night

Yeah. I think there is a chance they took down some servers and converted them to 1943. This is making finding a decent room difficult.

As you know, I recently tried to run a session, and had a lot of trouble with randoms in the room. We were mildly successful with some things. But overall, we spent 2 or 3 hours just trying to get sorted.

We had a lot of trouble just getting everyone into our room.

I really think it might be a combination of everything mentioned.

- Demo servers taken down (probably for conversion to 1943), not sure if this really has an effect if they were just converted to 1943 servers. But it may have caused a bunch of Demo players to buy the game.
- Bad Company servers converted to 1943 (so less Bad Company servers)
- The game is platinum, so now people are buying the game for really cheap.

Overall, less servers combined with a new influx of players makes finding a private room very difficult.
