Batarang throw combat challenge question

So when I am doing the Cmbat challenges, the only way I know how to throw my batarang is press L1 real quick and then R1, however when I see the videos I don't see the users doing that. What is the correct button to press to make this smoother?

Also, I noticed I am only throwing 1 batarang while I have seen others in videos throw 3, how do they quick select to throwing 3.

Tapping R1 will make Batman throw the Batarang naturally towards an enemy, just make sure your screen is aimed towards the target.

Throwing three Batarangs at once is an upgrade you need to purchase in the game.

I have the upgrade, I just was wondering how everyone does it.

Well do you have the three Batarang's equipped?

Is that what they do? Equip them right at the beginning?

Yes, because the default Batarang is usually the regular loadout. What you can try is equipping it in Story Mode aswell, then saving it. It may carry over to the challenges, it SHOULD carry over.
