Prickly Pear NOT Glitched

Before more rumors start off, this is just one of those trophies were people who aren't being diligent enough are missing a step / item (like most collection trophies where you can't chart progress). It's not glitched.

The key is to make sure NOT to dress the cactus and NOT to put up the saloon sign until you are absolutely forced to, otherwise a break in dialogue is skipped and a chance to go talk to the Cactus is thus missed.

Here's how to do it:

• Talk to it right off the back (Doc, "Hush!") and you can do this three times until "I got something for you" Edna dialogue option pops up. Think you only need the "hush" once though.
  
• Choose "I got something for you" in Edna's dialogue tree, then talk to it before showing Edna Doc ("Nice Cactus").
  
• Once introducing Doc plays out, Talk to it ("Help me out Danny"), then use the Flower on Edna.
  
• Once that plays out, Talk to it while Edna is in the car ("Move faster Danny")
  
• Trip the wire, now she thinks it's Strickland, but not. Talk to it ("Looks like a Strickland to me"). Put on wig, talk, put on hat for a cut scene. (might have to only get this response once).
  
• Once that plays out Talk to it ("Got a point marshal") Then hang up saloon sign.
  
• Talk to it for the last time ("Hey, it's your granddaughter...") and trophy pops. Now go play with fire.

It is glitched though, because I got every single one of those responses, and I did it several times, but I still didn't get the trophy. It wasn't until I triggered each dialog option 10+ times that the game registered it.

On my third attempt I got the trophy by following TyrantII instructions.

Thanks, just followed the instructions and the trophy unlocked no problem. I only spoke to the cactus once per time so im not sure why its glitched on some people but maybe i just got lucky.

Well I must say good find. I tried 3 times with 3 different ways no luck. But I see this on the forum, I gave it a shot again followed this tip to the tee and boom TROPHY POPS. Timbo does great guides u might want to refer this to him to add to guide. Once again thanks for finding this out. The difference was the mop head and the hat. I was always putting it on the cactus at the wrong time. I think that is the difference from when the trophy pops or doesn't....

Are you sure? Try it on another account, I guarantee it'll unlock.

I was wondering what I was doing wrong, then realized that a few breaks in dialogue don't appear if you put together the outhouse/saloon sign and cactus w/ getup too early. You need those comments to unlock it. It's also very easy to miss the last dialogue option because the camera placement right near the outhouse / fire tends to make you go do it right away.

Worked for me on two PSN accounts following the above on my first trys. I'm 99.9% sure it's not glitched, especially seeing as the other trophies in the game have no issues. Feel free to use it in the guide if you'd like to.

thank you very much TyrantII the cactus trophy was the thorn in my side <see what I did there> Looked over your quick walk thru and the only part I missed on my 1st play thru, I hadn't talked to the cactus before I dressed it! One of those moments.

Thanks, this helped. Followed roadmap from guide but somehow missed this trophy so I had to do a clean up run. I likely interacted with tripfire or something.
