Introduction:

Great Scott! Our favorite time traveling partners from the mid 80's return to us for more temporal shenanigans, but this time, in the form of a video game! This series of games made by the creators of "Sam and Max" games, Telltale Games, will come to us in 5 different episodes released a month apart from each other. This guide/walkthrough covers the first episode of them. The first thing I would like to mention is that I would highly suggest not using a walkthrough to play for the first time through, as it is much more fun to play through the game and figure things out on your own. If you are mindful of what the missable trophies are and when and how to get them, you can easily play through this game and get 100% in one playthrough without following a walkthrough. However, I realize that there are some of you who want to get through it as fast as possible, or simply be absolutely sure they don't miss anything, so for these people a walkthrough is provided under "A Bicycle Built For Two".

If you plan on playing this without the walkthrough, take note of the missable trophies to make sure you can 100% this game in one fell swoop. During the opening scene of the game, make sure to unlock "Deja Marty". Also, be sure that before you leaving Edna Strickland's apartment, you unlock "Fate in flux", because if you exit the apartment before getting this trophy, a second game will need to be started. As soon as you travel back in time, quickly pick up "Hi Bob!" and "A Plausible Explanation". While in Emmett's basement you need to unlock "Fuelmaster", otherwise another full playthrough will be required. As long as you take note of these trophies, you can play without the walkthrough and still get 100%, but the walkthrough is there in case it is need.

A few notes about how the walkthrough is set up:

  • Dialog (_____): __________ This denotes a conversation taking place in the game. The first blank inside the parentheses shows who you are talking to, and the second blank shows which conversational option you should choose to unlock a trophy/progress in the game. If the second blank shows "Any" you are welcome to choose whichever choice you like, the outcome will be the same.
  • Trophy: _________ Unlocked! This shows at what points each trophy should unlock during the story line.
  • Walk ___________ This is to tell you where you need to take Marty to in order to obtain a trophy/progress through the game. Remember that you can hold :circle: to make Marty run. The directions I provide when referring to the town square are in the form of cardinal directions (north, west, east) and they are all taken from the center of town square. This means that the courthouse is on the east, police station is on the west, etc.... Remember whenever i give a direction like east or west it is referring to east or west from the center of town. Directions like right or left refer to directions from the point where you are standing.
  • Interact with ________ To interact with something you simply need to highlight it and press :cross: When "Interact with _________ (With ______ equipped)." is shown, that means you need to equip that item before interacting with the specified object.
  • :square: Use Item __________ to equip. Pressing :square: opens up your inventory. Now you need to scroll over to the item specified in the blank spot and click :cross: to "Use Item", or more simply put, equip it.
  • :circle: to exit. This is simple. Whenever this is shown in the walkthrough it means that we are done with this conversation or location. Pressing :circle: will exit the conversation or leave the area so that you can continue.

Now onto the steps:

Step 1: Play through the game.

In this step you should play through the game (using the walkthrough or not). This will earn you all of the story related trophies, which is also the majority of the trophies in the whole game. Whether you decide to use the walkthrough or not, make sure to watch out for "A Plausible Explanation", "Fuelmaster", "Fate in flux", "Hi Bob!", and "Deja Marty", since they are missable. See them in the trophy guide to find out when, where, and how to unlock them. If you aren't using the walkthrough and you get stuck, pressing :triangle: will open up a hint menu, then you can press :cross: to reveal more hints. This has no effect on trophies, so feel free to abuse the hints as much as you would like. If you watched out for and achieved all of the missable trophies, then once you finish this step you should have 100% of the trophies. If you missed something, now we move on to step 2.

Step 2 (Optional): Clean up playthrough.

If you happened to miss a trophy here or there, now is the time to start a new game and track it down. Upon completing this step, you will now have 100% of the trophies.

Story related trophy, it should unlock just before the DeLorean appears outside of Doc's house. See "A Bicycle Built For Two" for the game walkthrough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/591/07.jpg Hello, Young Friendhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngTalked Emmett into completing the Rocket Drill

Story related trophy. It should unlock after convincing the young Emmett Brown into making a full functioning Rocket Drill. See the trophy walkthrough in "A Bicycle Built For Two".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/591/08.jpg A Plausible Explanationhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngDiscovered the origin of the 'new' DeLorean

Once you go back in time and speak to Doc in the jail cell for the first time, you have the ability to talk to him about various different subjects. To learn about the new DeLorean, ask him the questions in this order:

"Where've you been?"

"How's the family?"

"Where'd the DeLorean come from?"

This can be gotten at your leisure BEFORE completing the rocket drill. See the trophy walkthrough in "A Bicycle Built For Two".

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/591/09.jpg Fuelmasterhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.pngFlawlessly mixed up a batch of Emmett's Rocket Fuel

After finishing all of the tasks required to begin crafting the Rocket Drill, Emmett will ask you to mix the rocket fuel while he argues with his father as a distraction. Pay attention to Doc's cues as he is yelling at his father to tell you what to do. The words will have extra emphasis on them, young Emmett will say them louder, and they will also appear all in capital letters if subtitles are enabled. There are 4 different sections to the sequence, Emmett will appear downstairs and will inform you when you have reached 25%, 50%, and 75% of the concoction. The commands get faster and faster as you progress. Unfortunately, the order of devices used is random each time so I cannot write you a step by step for this, just pay attention and react quickly. The meter will be shown and it will ding every time you get one cue correct.

Beware, about half way through Emmett's father will begin to yell similar words which will also appear in the subtitles, so you need to be extra careful that you only listen to Emmett's commands. If you mess up, you will know because Emmett will stop arguing with his father and come down to speak to you and tell you to listen for his cues. Should this happen to you, you can press the :ps: button and exit to the XMB and restart the game. Now you can load, which will start you back at the beginning from the mixing sequence and you may try again. Alternatively, as DarkSeraphim666 so graciously pointed out, you can simply press :select: and load from there.

The cues will follow the lines of:

Stoke Fire:

-Fire

-Burning

-Hot

-Flame

-Bellowing

Sprinkle Bacteria Food:

-Eating

-Food

-Microorganism

-Bacteria

-Shake

-Fed

When inside Edna Strickland's house in the present, examine the pictures on the wall until you see a picture of Marshall Strickland. You will need to examine the pictures between 1-3 times for this picture to show up. Once you see this picture, Edna will comment on it and you will receive the trophy. During the opening scene of the game you will reenact the time travel experiment from the first Back To The Future movie. In order to get this trophy you must correctly repeat the dialog from the movie. If you have seen the movie this shouldn't be a problem, but nevertheless, the correct choices are:

-"Disintegrated Einstein"

-"Built a time machine out of a DeLorean?"

This will put you back at the beginning of the mixing sequence so that you may try again. Alternatively, as DarkSeraphim666 so graciously pointed out, you can simply press :select: and load from there. Emmett will come down stairs and inform you when you have hit the 25%, 50%, and 75% marks. The speed at which the cues come increases the further you are. Beware that about halfway through, Emmett's father will begin shouting similar cues. Ignore those and focus only on the ones said by Emmett. The cues and their respective machines are:

Watch for those cues, then use the machine associated with them. They occur in a random order remember. Once you finish this sequence, Emmett will come down and talk to you.

in case u wanna update this and help some people out from wasting a few minutes restarting the entire game from the XMB i have an easier way for redoing fuelmaster.

u can just hit the select button if u mess up and reload ur autosave from there. the autosave literally restarts you the second u begin following cues. just easier then quitting out to the XMB imo. ur welcome in advance : D

lol yea its just weird for us these days since we're used to the start button being the "be all and end all" as far as regular menus go. i think it was like that in tales from monkey island and sam and max as well. kinda weird but watevs

Yeah, I pressed start to see if there was a menu, but when all it did was pause, I assumed there was no menu haha. Thanks again for the tip, it has been added and you have been credited :)

Liking the guide, I look forward to buying this whenever it comes to Europe.

Also the trophy tiles for this game are now up on the site, so you can add them to your guide if you like, make it look nicer. ;)

Thanks for the heads up. I submitted them about 2 days ago, I was just waiting for them to get loaded ;)

Congrats for the guide.

A lot of effort and time.:applause: And very fast :applause:

BTW during -Fuelmaster- -Doc- said some words that were not in the list.

For example he used:

-FED- and was related with -Sprinkle Bacteria Food-.

-MOVE- and I used the -Turn Electrical Crank-. -

-VENT- belongs to -Release Gaseous Pressure-.

Sorry, I dont remember the other ones. But maybe this help to expand that part.

Thanks again ,Man.
