I'm waiting too but I can't wait, I've heard Batman Arkham City mechanics and I love swinging around the city (#2) so I think the combination will be fun. Oh and guys keep up the comments I'm loving them.

You should wait to watch the film, since this takes place after and could spoil some stuff for you. |

Ok, I went out and got this game Tuesday after having no urge to get it, I just randomly wanted to play it. Now I'm enjoying the game but if I had the opportunity to go back and do it again, I would have waited for a price drop.
Yes the game has a boat load of spoilers but I really don't mind that so much since I can pretty much guess whats going to happen in the Spider Man movie anyway. Those of you who have Playstation Plus should go download the 1 hour trial and find out if you'll like it that way. Pretty much 1 hour into it will give you a good feel for the game. You may not have some of the side quests unlocked but the pace and "story" of the game is pretty much how it goes. The story, I feel, is actually pretty good however they rush you along it too quickly. They should have developed certain aspects of it out a bit more and I really don't feel like there are any real "epic" moments. The S-02 battle is pretty close though. The game is open world, yes, but once you do the missions it plays very linearly. All missions are inside somewhere (aside from side missions), with the exception of some boss battles. Its very much a "dungeon" kind of game, where you're doing the same things over and over again. Not a bad thing but really could use some variety. Make me solve puzzles or something. They should have taken a lot more from the Batman games than the fighting system. That leads me to my final point. I hear a lot of people citing the Batman style combat system as a reason to be excited for this game. Keep in mind that this fighting system is the ONLY aspect of the Batman games they took and put into this game and still it isn't even as fluid as Batman. Pretty much it is a button masher with a dodge ability. Now, overall, it is a good, fun game. If you're a big Spider Man fan like I am, it is a game worth buying, however I will say that I do not feel like it was worth $60. Each story mission seems the same and often you are returning to the same 2-3 places for these missions. While the game is open world, that is only to get from one place to the next and a majority of the actual game is played indoors in a very point A-B style. Again, fun game, not worth $60. |
