EA have confirmed that they will make use of their Online Pass by making the original Alice linked to it:

EA announced today that Alice: Madness Returns, shipping on June 14, will include a one-time-use Online Pass registration code (for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360) that gives players access to the original cult-classic American McGee's Alice. Players that do not have the code can purchase American McGee's Alice for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace and $9.99 on the PlayStation®Network * through the main menu of Alice: Madness Returns. This download for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system marks the console debut for the infamous PC hit.

I like this deal. $59.99 for two games. And some people whine about online passes. I'll always support stuff like this because eventually, publishers will give us something good in return if we support this, even if it's from companies like EA.

Not only that, I don't have to play $100+ dollars for the PC version on eBay or Amazon.

This seems only a way to earn something from the used games market, to me.
I can understand the online pass to play online. But not to play a game that is also required for platinum.

Sure, but they'd have to be insane not to try and earn something from the used games market, when you consider that said market is eating away at their income.

I wish Joystiq wouldn't run with "online pass" wording just because the game is published by EA.

In a nutshell this is like Modern Warfare 2 hardened edition, where you got an included game code in new copies to download Call of Duty Classic off PSN for no-charge.

It does suck for people who want to but the game new now. It doesn't come with the first one...
