Thanks for the tips! I will try these tomorrow - I am also having problems with the pelicans and the baby hippo.
EDIT: got them both (as well as the turtle that was giving me problems)! Turns out I always had some other mission accepted because I was trying to be more efficient. But the Pelican and Turtle have scenes that start them and those scenes never start if you have an accepted mission. Went to the areas with no mission accepted and everything went off perfectly. Don't know why the baby hippo never showed up, but the day after the Pelicans it was there.

This has not been the same problem for me! It's been over a week of trying to get the pelicans to show up, period!
I drive there every day and there a no pelicans what so ever for a week in game, or more. I only started counting when I got another mission that took over 4 days to finally get the animal to appear. Anyone else had this trouble?Edit: now 9 days. ;.; Edit 2: 11 days and they finally show up! That was nuts! Got the recording right away though. They make their call when they land so run towards one just about to land and before it lands press o.
