It's been a long time since I've played it, but I used Lidstrom and rotated Zetterberg/Datsyuk (I think they are both the same type) and Oveckhin.

I don't know anything about ice hockey players. It's my first NHL game, so I just pick two strong players and a fast one. Seems to do the job.

I usually use this: Datsuyk, Malkin and Chara. Luongo or Brodeur should be in the net

I usually pick Doane (I think that is his name) he is an all-arounder. the rest is just whoever is on the list.
I usually pick either the strong or all-arounder guys since they are the best in my opinion.
