Introduction:
Wizardry is a series that has been around for quite some time. It's been a Dungeon Crawler RPG type of game since the DOS era and that means that you will spend most of your time grinding enemies for experience and items. There isn't really any notable story to this game, so if you like grinding and sometimes seemingly unfair enemies - this is your game.
Road Map
Step Zero: Creating your party
You might want to skip to Step One if you don't feel the need to be educated about the game mechanics. For new players I really recommend reading through this step at least once.
Creating your party
Step One: Finish the main story
First of all, you should use this spreadsheet if you ever need any of the coordinates for quests or item drop locations. It's almost 100% accurate and helped me a lot:
Item Drop and Quest Spreadsheet
Before starting, I want to point out that everything you do will count towards the trophies. No matter which character you use, everything in this game accumulates. You can track progress of most trophies in the Album at the Inn.
First get your party together:
Spoiler! (click here to reveal)
|
After creating your party from the character selection screen (if you created the characters in the Guild don't worry - you can create new characters from the selection screen at any time but the whole point was that you level the characters before playing their scenarios), you first have to bring your party together.
To do so, just leave the characters you want to use (5 of them) in the [Dungeon of Trials] (save and Return to Title from there), go to your main character, choose the same dungeon and press . Choose [Search for Allies] and get your party together.
After that, buy the maps from the store. You can open them with while in a dungeon. |
You will unlock some of the trophies in the first playthrough, but it's mainly for leveling your characters and collecting items for trophies you will get much later on. Since nearly all of the trophies are "Kill a specific number of enemies", "Collect items" and "Finish character scenarios" you don't have to worry about much in this step. Just descend down the dungeon while doing the main quests.
What you'll want to get out of the way first is
A King's Ransom. You need to collect 1.000.000 Gold, so just don't spend anything (you won't really need anything from the store) until you get the trophy. While descending down the Trial Dungeon try to map as much of it as possible for the
Amateur Adventurer trophy. Same goes for Shiin's Dungeon. But here you'll have to map every single tile of it for the
Apprentice Cartographer,
Professional Cartographer and
Master Cartographer trophies, so work on that from the beginning.
The last few trophies you will want to work towards are the boss kill trophies (
Ala Cadaver,
Tempestus Wreckage and
Luxurious Anguish). While on the final quest of the main story ([Rescue King Diement V]) you will need to make specific choices to fight these bosses. See the corresponding trophies for more information.
Don't sell [Dirty Dagger]s and [Tonic]s, you will still need them in Step 2. After the first three quests ([Defeat the Monsters], [Stolen Medicine] and [Dungeon Delivery]) you will need to do your Hero Quest. Check the corresponding character scenario trophy for help on this.
Step Two: Clear the remaining 9 character scenarios
You will need to clear the game with every single character from the character selection screen. You can use the party from your first playthrough in these consecutive ones by using the [Search for Allies] feature described in Step One. Be sure to have at least one character with the "Free Warp" ability with you. It will speed up things tremendously.
What you will have to do in each playthrough are the first three quests ([Defeat the Monsters], [Stolen Medicine] and [Dungeon Delivery]), the Hero Quest described in the corresponding trophy description and after that [Research of the Heathen Gods], [Stranded in the Dungeon] and [Rescue King Diement V]. If you can't accept [Stranded in the Dungeon] you need to talk to Shiin who stands two steps away from the entrance stairs in Shiin's Dungeon B1F first.
Be sure to get
Ala Cadaver,
Tempestus Wreckage and
Luxurious Anguish in this step which require you to kill the different bosses. If you don't know which quests to do and where their objectives are, take a look at
Savior of the Empire.
This step will earn you these trophies:
Completed Chris' scenario
Completed Odetta's scenario
Completed Verne's scenario
Completed Lind's scenario
Completed Pegma's scenario
Completed Nia's scenario
Completed Erno's scenario
Completed Dia's scenario
Completed Boris' scenario
Completed Asche's scenario
Savior of the Empire.
Step Three: Cleanup
This step will take you the longest by far. It consists of grinding, grinding and more grinding. If you don't have the
A Little Help From My Friends trophy yet, go ahead and create a character of every class in the Guild. Save beforehand so that your party doesn't get messed up. After that it's on to the grindfest.
You will want to start out by finishing up these trophies:
Giver of Eternal Rest
Purifier
The One Called 'Dragonslayer'
For specific locations on these take a look at the trophy description.
After that, you should start grinding the crap out of B1F of either the Trial or Shiin's Dungeon for
Rookie Adventurer,
Hardened Veteran and
The Doombringer. This will take a veeeeeery long time. If you have a turbo controller you might be able to automate this (
take a look at this thread).
If you got your 50.000th kill and still don't have
Museum Curator, you should take a look at the Spreadsheet or at this
list I found.
The only trophy/trophies you should be missing now are
Dungeon Dweller and
Lost Soul. You
will have to leave your PS3 on until you clock in at 200 hours. Unfortunately there is no other way for this. Since the other trophies don't take this long, this will most likely be the last one you'll earn.
