Hello everyone!
I just thought I would try to make a guide of how to get "The Six Pack". This will be my very first guide of any kind. I hope its alright with the Mods!
First, let me say that I am no expert!, in fact, I just got this game a little over a week ago, so I'm not very familiar with it yet, So this guide will be MY take on it. If you can write a better one, Please, do so!
In my opinion, there is 2 ways you can go about this:
- Starting on your own
- Starting with a group
I will first explain "Starting on your own". This is how I got "The Six Pack". It took me 2 tries, once on 06/07/2011, which took about 3 hours. and then on 07/07/2011, which took just over 4 hours, and I got it finally.
Now... the only things you really need to get started this way is:
- A ton of patience
- Time!, lots of it! Getting this trophy can either take 20 minutes, or 4+ hours!
- Knowledge that this is one of the hardest trophies to get in the game
- Will Power!, you need to know that you WILL get it! You need to absolutely want this, no matter what!
- Many open friend spaces. I normally have only 7-10 people on my friends list, the maximum you can have is 100. By the time I got the trophy, I had like, 50+ people that either accepted, or were pending.
I started at about 1:30PM. I started out solo. I went to "Ranked", searched "Any/Any" and waited. I was put into a game after about 5-6 minutes of searching.
Now, this is a key point. When the screen says something like "[X] players, waiting for [X] more players", and you can't see who else is in the room... Guess what, You CAN see who's in with you! Go to your "Players Met" list in your XMB, and new players should be added to the top of your list. Pay attention to the time you met them at. If its about the same time as it is currently, you know they're in the room with you. Hit
and select "Add as a Friend". Remember that many people do not accept blank friend requests, so what I put in all my Friend Requests was "6 pack trophy". Once you type it once, the PS3 keyboard remembers it, so for everyone else you add, all you gotta press is "6" and the predictions will try fill in the rest, making you able to fire off multiple Friend Requests in seconds-minutes!
You should also create a new Text Chat. Call it "The Six Pack" or something similar. Try not to use the word "Boost" though, as some people don't like to boost. Any new friends you make, invite them to the chat. When they join, politely ask them if they would like to get the trophy together. Be friendly, but tell them they need to have patience and time. In my experience, there seems to be quite a bit of younger kids that play AvP, but I managed to find a 15 year old, and an 11 year old that really wanted it too. Don't hassle them on their age, if they're willing to help, Great! Tell everyone to add eachother, so they can get it too!
You should get a few biters from your first match, so once you've sent FRs to everyone currently in the match with you, have fun playing. When the match ends, Don't leave!, you should get more people joining. Keep adding people and invite them to your chat! You're going to need minimum 6 friends, but you should add a few others, as some people may back out, or get timed out. Once you've got a group all willing to get the trophy, invite them to YOUR lobby in AvP. I think the maximum you can have with you is 7, so there should be 8 of you all together. Do not join anyones lobbies, YOU are in control.
Despite what your group may say, I find that searching "Ranked/Any/18" is the best way to go. While it is searching for a game, take the time to reassure your group, and ask them to just be patient... Chat it up!, Talk about how bad you want 6 pack, or Marine Nightmare, or What games you're currently playing, or want to get. You may end up finding future friends in other games!.
If you notice some of your group backs out, don't back out just yet. Chances are they got bored and left. If they didn't however, and got timed out, they'll say so in the chat, if they really want the trophy. If the majority of your group is disbanded, and you still haven't found a game, back out and get them to join back up with you in YOUR lobby.
But if the screen says "[X] players, waiting for [X] more players" again, Start adding new people again! Eventually the game will get enough players and start, the trophy should pop after about 30 seconds - 1 minute after the game starts, as long as whoever you added accepted your requests BEFORE the game started and there's a minimum of 6 people on your friends list in that game.
This whole proccess took me just over 4 hours total, but it was well worth it to here that "Blingk!" sound! The majority of the time was spent playing matches and adding people.
Now if your experience is like mine, You were the only one who got it. Good conscience tells you to help those who helped you. But, they need to help themselves too!, Remember all that hard work you just did? Yep, they need to step up and do it too if they want it. Refer them to this Message Board!, and to this thread if you want! They (and you!) will find many great people who have already gotten Platinum, but are still willing to help others! And useful guides as well!
Now, if you Start out with a group (like, say a group of people from this board) This will be short and sweet... Join up together, Search "Ranked/Any/Any" and WAIT!!! Chat it up!, make friends with your group! Don't give up!!! You will get it!!! It just takes time!
