I thought it would be nice if we made a list of all the games we can confirm support CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS. For those of you who don't know what this is, it means that you can play music from your playstation hard drive during gameplay. Official Custom Soundtracks should never disable in-game sounds.
Unfortunately, Microsoft has a patent on their custom music feature. This hampers Sony's ability to implement a similar system. Not all games support custom soundtracks.
The best way to test a game is to access the in-game XMB and try to select a track from your music library. If the game does not support custom soundtracks a message will say, "Music content cannot be played during use of this game." If you are simply in the wrong "area" of the game (i.e. online/offline) a message will say, "Music content cannot be played at this time. It will start automatically after a while." However, there are games that don't support this "style of playback".
XMB - Most games use a standard method for playing custom soundtracks. You simply access your in-game
XMB by hitting the PS button. You select the track you want to play and BINGO!
MENU = Some games have in-game menus that must be navigated in order to select and play custom soundtracks. An example of this would be Burnout Paradise. At least one game requires you to have a
PLAYLIST created on your PS3. Other games you have to go to the options screen and select a 'custom soundtracks' option.
